Anton and Jessie (?) on Breakfast, Friday
martyboy
17-10-2008
I think I caught a mention of Anton and Jessie on Breakfast, Friday.

(I was in the kitchen doing washing up, and just caught the mention from the TV a couple of rooms away, so I couldn't actually see the TV, and not sure what was said).

Edit: In a later (8am) preview there was no mention of Jessie, just a clip of Cherie and James and a mention of Anton. In the earlier prevew, the music playing was "Help" so that's another reason for thinking the first clip (which I didn't see) might have been Jessie, and she might possibly be on the show.

I think it's just Anton. Shame Jessie couldn't do an interview but I guess she's busy with her play.

I'm working to a deadline today so I won't be able to upload it, but if no-one else is able to do it I will get it done either this evening or tomorrow.

It was just Anton.

His comments:

The boys are generally weaker than the girls.

Above the pack: Austin, Tom, Rachel, Cherie (had been expected to struggle, but so far she hasn't).

Clips of Austin training, doing "saarmba". Charlie Stayt queries Anton's pronounciation of "saarmba".

Remarks about Rugby players eg Matt Dawson. They normallly come with battered backs, and other injuries.

Clip of Rachel training: Charlie Stayt asks how much of public vote is due to the dance performance and how much is due to popularity. Anton says Rachel ticks both boxes: good dancer and popular.

Anton says public's knowledge of dance technique and its importance in the vote has improved because of the show.

Clips of John Sergeant - talk about his charm (contrasted with Andrew, a better dancer, but perceived as trying too hard).

Susanna Reid says she was in audience herself last week. Remark from Anton about whether she might be in the show herself next season - think she'd like to be (and partnered with him!!!).

Talk about Christine being so nervous.

Clip of boys' group dance. Anton describes it as "interesting". Says he couldn't stand it.

Anton will be back next week.

Right at the end of Breakfast, they mentioned that Craig will be on sometime tomorrow.

Anton is traditionally seen to be harsher with the boys. I think he knows the boys can take criticisms better than the ladies. But I believe when Erin was paired with Colin he didn't really say much things positive about Colin but was praising Darren Gough to the sky (even pre puppet-gate). Once he even said (perhaps jokingly?) that he's jealous his pro partner is dancing with someone this good (referring to their AS I think).

So Austin is now dancing with his pro-partner, and I think Anton would take the mickey out of Austin probably as much as he could get away with. That plus Austin has very thick skin and being THE Leicester Lip, perhaps Erin wouldn't mind.

Anton did make a quip: that if Austin continues to perform as he has, then he might even be able to make a professional come-back.
