Three Days Training???
Rubyynot
17-10-2008
I am a bit confused as to why so many of the celebs are saying the only have three days each week to learn each new dance.

Assuming they have Sunday 'off', they would start training on Monday, and they have to do rehearsals on Friday. So surely that is four days (or was when I was at school!).

I understand they may choose to only train for three days - but that is their choice.

Am I missing something

I've been confused by this too. And I'm sure last year some couples started training on a Sunday sometimes.... or am I imagining things?

What I don't understand either is why wasn't the men training last week? Did they have a week off?

That was so it was fair when they went head to head with the girls, otherwise theyd have had a fortnights training and the girls just a week.

I was confused by it too!

The men didn't train last week as they only found out last weekend what they would be dancing this Saturday. This is so that they did not have an unfair advantage over the girls - who would only have had one week to train.

I must say this is puzzling me as well ??.....as you said above even if they have Sunday off there is still 4 days left in a week if you don't include Friday

I think on one of the days, the pro dancers get together to do their pro dance routine, so maybe that takes one day out of the week?

From what I understand, those Sunday training sessions don't really come in until they start doing two dances a week.

But not all the pros are always involved. And would they really take out an entire day and not train with their partner that day though?

Usually all the pros are involved in either the group dance or dancing to the artist. Not all the celebs live in London so it would be difficult for some of them to do the group rehearsal and then get to wherever their celeb lives. Some of them could, of course.

I'm sure some have mentioned Sundays when they have been chatting on ITT. Didn't Andrew say Sunday when he was talking about the American Smooth or did he say he got the choreography from Ola on Monday, I can't quite remember now?

Maybe the pro's are working out their choreography on the Sunday and showing/starting to teach their celebs on the Monday.

I thought the pros did the choreography on Sundays? I could be totally wrong.

surely during any "week off" waiting to know which dance they are doing they should do some basic Dance structure, practice of hold, practice forward on toes in latin heels in ballroom etc etc??????

this is why ballroom gets such bad press in some circles as people perceive it is all choreographed etc etc

Hmm, it's a shame the boys didn't get two weeks to train. I'm assuming the girls had an extra week for their first dance so it evens out along the way. Unless they staggered that as well, so the girls only found out a week later than the boys what their first dance would be.

I'm pretty sure that back in series 4, Mark and Karen were back in training every Sunday! I've never understood this '3 day' thing either

I'm sure this 3 days thing has only started this season - before lots of couples would be training on a Sunday.

I'm sure it must have something to do with the group dance and the famous Monday production meeting - I reckon it is only after that meeting that they find out what dance they are doing, etc.

I thought Andrew said he was training on Sunday in his ITT interview? I don't get it either.

If they are seriously only told on Monday, I suppose it would mean Monday the pro gets their music choice approved/is given music and plans choreography, then Tues, Wed, Thurs they learn it?

Plus both John and Austin said something like 'effectively three days' or 'equivalent of three days' (in my unreliable memory) which isn't the same as saying three days.

I think Andrew said Ola worked on the choreography on Monday
