What is wrong with Len? Just watched him on DWTS and a couple who did a stunning routine were told off for "messing around" when they were actually being artistic and creative. He also accused the female celebrity of being "too raunchy!"

It was a Samba FGS!

Then there was all that stuff last week about people's 16 bar intros on SCD. He seems to out of tune with the rest of the judges. Is it just me or has he lost the plot?

This should be in the DWTS thread, seeing we don't want Len to dominate the forum threads too. But while we are at it before the moderator decides to move this thread, yes, he's lost the plot.

Hope he got lost on his way back.

Are you a moderator now? I am discussing a judge on SCD and commenting on his performance on both shows. It just happens I have noticed he is as grumpy on DWTS as SCD. But please feel free to alert me and have this thread moved if you feel so stongly about it

I am not the moderator, of course. But I may let the moderator know my opinions of where this thread should go. Nothing personal to you, but certainly something personal to Len!

Sorry if I offend you.

Blessed are the Peacemakers...

Hi Wizzy

Haven't really been following DWTS this series, but did catch one routine a couple of weeks ago which was classed by Len as too 'alternative' and not traditional enough. As a viewer, I found the performance quite refreshing and felt it brought a new flavour to ballroom dance.

I do respect Len's experience and wisdom in this field, but sometimes I feel he needs to move with the times a bit.

Creative choreography should be welcomed in my opinion, not criticised. Otherwise, how are we to engage younger viewers?

Hey Sid. I really liked Christine and Matthew's much criticised 16 bar intro last week and I don't understand why he seems to be stamping down on creative choreography. I think he is in a time wharp and thinks it is Come Dancing.

I love the artistic side of the dance as I think it brings it to life for a wider audience.

I checked out DWTS tonight to see what he was like on there and he was the same - at odds with the other judges!

I think the routine I saw had a French flare to it?! I loved it.

Like you, I enjoyed Christine and subsequently Rachel's openings (ooo err that sounds dodgey!) last week. It adds to the performance overall.

Luckily, we have Craig and Bruno to counter Len's more traditional approach. They seem to appreciate and encourage a more contemporary feel to dance.

Len has become my least favourite judge but I can understand his frustration when the couples waste too much time on the intro without dance steps as they only have approx 90 sec- which is very short-to complete their routine.

I think he's got grumpier since he's been flying back and forth to the USA every week. Does he live there now or is he doing a USA show?

Think the jet lag is getting to him. Though it must be said I find it makes it more interesting with him being more unpredictable!

Len & Bruno pull double duty as judges on DWTS as well as SCD. I believe they fly to the States Saturday night/Sunday to do DWTS which is live on Monday's & Tuesday's here. Then they fly back to the UK to do SCD.

Goodness! The jet lag must get to them. Also explains why here in the UK Bruno is even more excitable than usual with his hands waving everywhere and jumping up and down!

Len still lives in Kent.

And you are right about the jet lag; he said he wasn't going to do this series of dwts - and only do the one earlier in the year that doesn't clash with Strictly - but understand he got his "arm twisted"££$$££!!

Personally I couldn't cope with the jet lag for more than 1 week, but he and Bruno are flying back & forth for 10 weeks!

I do agree with you though, his being more unpredictable does make things more interesting; judges that are always "nicey nicey" are also "boring boring"!!!!!!
