I am thinking of buying this camera and am wondering if anyone had any experience of it or general thoughts.

It gets quite a good review at Steves Digicams (http://www.steves-digicams.com/2008_...012is_pg5.html)

It will be my first DSLR camera. I have only had compact cameras before hand but my current one (fuji F410) is quite old now, bought it about 6 years ago and it has served me well but I fancy an upgrade. I have always wanted a DSLR but just don't know what I should be looking for.

Hi,
I had a look on different reviews on the camera and I found out that it has an excellent rating but however, it takes average images; has a small LCD and a weak viewfinder
Anyway, it seems to be a great DSLR but you can get it even cheaper when go to this website where you can compare the prices if the camera and find the best one.

I hope it helps!

Looks like a pretty decent camera actually.

The review on Steves Digicam is favourable .... which is usually a good indicator. The ability to record up to 720p video on it is also a definite plus.

But .... it's not a dSLR. It's a bridge (or pro-sumer .... or super-zoom .... depending where you look. All the same, just different names) camera rather than a full on dSLR. It gives you a lot more functionality than a bog standard compact but not quite as much as a dSLR. It won't be as good in low light as a properly set up dSLR is either.

But, regardless of that, as a bridge camera, it looks like a very good one.

Gogfumble, have you looked at some other bridge cameras, like the Fujifilm Finepix S100FS and the compact Finepix F100fd which one the Plus X Award this year? They are more expensive than the Kodak but you get what you pay for. Any ideas on budget?
