EX-CORRIE star Bruce Jones said playing Les Battersby wrecked his life — and claimed he was RELIEVED when he was sacked after a 19-pint bender.
Bruce, 55, also told of his horror at finding the body of fourth Yorkshire Ripper victim, Jean Jones. He said: “She had her hair burned, face smashed in, disembowelled.

“I had nightmares for years. I still do.”

The show is on BBC1, tonight at 10.35pm.

I was a big Les Battersby fan and was kinda hoping he would return to the Street..obviously not gonna happen though!

Also feel for him about finding the body, must be horrific to live with..but I don't recall there being a 'Jean Jones' victim..?

As usual, media cannot even get the victims name right ..it was actually Jean Jordan, suprised he mentioned it though as he tends not to talk about it an awful lot and normally does not mention it at all in interviews.

I would love to know how playing Les Battersby supposedly ruined his life. I suppose I'll find out his twisted, deluded and self-pitying version of events tonight.

Isn't that a bit harsh when you don't know what he's going to say yet?

I suppose so!

I'm just thinking about the headline, I suppose, and other episodes of this series like the Jim Davidson one. Personally, I think Bruce Jones is a pretty woeful actor, and he was lucky to stay in Coronation Street for as long as he did. Then, by all accounts, he brought his downfall upon himself with his Les-type behaviour in real life.

Saw him in Celebrity Wife Swap, and there seemed to be little to distinguish Jones from his Coronation Street counterpart.

i have to say i thought he was very funny as les battersby and i would like to see him back. Was he not sacked for getting really drunk and spouting about co stars and revealing upcoming story lines?

Jean Jordan was the Ripper's sixth victim.According to Roger Cross' book ''The Yorkshire Ripper'' her body was found by an allotment holder at Chorlton-cum-Hardy who phoned the police about noon on Monday October 10,1977.

Definately was Bruce Jones....i also remember the last documentary on it and they mentioned it on there too...found this other website which says he was one of the allotment holders.

At 10:30 am that morning, two allotment holders, Mr Morrisey and Bruce Jones (who would later play Les Battersby on the long-running television show Coronation Street), while searching for house bricks, discovered Jean Jordan's body near a wooden shed and within twenty feet of a well-used pathway.
