Is Niall dead? Has Barry Sloane left? Or is he coming back?
I hope he comes back I really thought he was a great baddie! |

Yeah I thought it was stupid him going back to Dublin. I know they only had the actor for a couple of episodes but it wasn't right.
Not sure what else they could have done. I'd have killed him

It is quite in-character though, John Paul has always been rather selfish.
Rather selfish? he has always been selfish! He is the most selfish soap character! |

Soaps always have a tough time trying to explain moments like this, or when characters simply don't return for funerals at all. Thought they did quite well with the explanation and the family gave him their blessing.
Have to say, even though JP had his selfish moments (like ALL characters in soap), I hardly think it is fair to level that at the character at this stage given that just one ep before he was willing to give up his life for his sisters and mother, without prompting - a most unselfish act. JP as a character was neither entirely selfish nor entirely selfless - but what he did in that moment was an act of pure selflessness and love. |

I'm not saying he hasn't had selfless moments, but overall he does tend to put himself and his own feelings first e.g. sleeping with one of his closest friend's fiance.
![]() He did know that she was Craig's girlfriend, of course. Buuuut, he fell in love with Craig first! (not that that makes it right) |

JP has always been selfish, very me me me.
Then of course, he offers to give up his life - the most selfless thing ever - and then goes back to being quite selfish. |

That would have been funny. Give them their 'sunset ending' then kill him a couple of weeks later

I wish they had killed him off, hes so selfish its untrue. He was so quick to leave he was still wearing the same clothes and full of dust from the explosion, he could have at least gone home for a shower

At least it was explained why he would be absent instead of another character just saying he couldn't face it.
Refering to an earlier post - when is late night Hollyoaks being shown? |

Thanks. I have heard a few of those spoilers.
Would love to see Niall back. I think he's a great character and hope he gets recognition at the next soap awards. |

I'd much rather John Paul came back for the funeral than the church episodes but I'm glad they explained the funeral thing well.
