I listened to the advert for Amy Studt's album closely and noticed she's not got such an american lilt to her vocals as I thought. And that's a good thing.

And there was me liking singers for their voice. I'm so out of touch.

I *think* you'll find she's 16. And very, VERY strokeable.

Amy for me, but only by a small margin.

It annoys me when people call Amy Studt the "British Avril Lavigne". Point one, we don't need a British Avril Lavigne, and point two, Amy had a hit way before Lavigne (in this country at least), so technically Lavigne is the "Canadian Amy Studt"

As for Stacey Orrico: not for me.

Amy. Althoughy they both have the "poor me, I'm so different and the world sucks" going on a bit too much, Amy at least seems to be herself whereas Avril is nothing but a marketing creation. Also I haven't heard Amy be as abosutely idiotic in print as Avril is. And I prefer Amy's lyrics.

Aside from the fact that even on a recording her voice is weak, and shes only doing records now because she gave two fingers to Disney and Lizzie McGuire...

Way to keep your fanbase tho !!

Her voice is awful. But then again, anyone that watches a Hilary Duff video for the song deserves everything they get

*refrains from making obvious 'two fingers' joke*

Is orrico British ?
If so, Im not liking the way both her videos are very 'American' like the last one In a school, with the american buses etc.

Keep It British

I think you would find that Avril Lavigne is a much better vocalist.
You'll never see her lip-synch!!

I assume you don't mean a better vocalist than Amy Studt?

Amy Studt sings live and sings well. Avril Lavigne sings live but sounds shit (apologies if that link doesn't work).

Yeah, she has off days. You know as well as I do; Avril’s hit Ska8ter Boi; several times perfectly. It only took her two takes to record “Complicated”; which is unheard of. So when Avril’s good she’s very good.

If Avril could not sing; her shows would not work at all. She also has a wilder range. I can't see Amy Studt do a cover of Mattalica's Fuel; for instance.

There is no doubt in my mind that Avril’s better than Studt.

I especially like Avril's early Christian stuff.

Also Avril can rock; Amy is still unproven.

It's really no wonder why Avril's an International Superstar; as Arista Records boss LA Reid said, " You just can't market any girl and expect this sort of success".

Okay, I agree that everyone has 'off' days. Problem is, I've never heard her having an 'on' day. I've heard Jemini sound better live! Live on TOTP: appalling. Live on CD:UK: appalling. Live on Radio 1: appalling (I imagine the sound bites are still on the Radio 1 website somewhere). And though I hate to use the old "A friend told me" bollocks to argue a point, a friend who did go and see Lavigne in concert said that she didn't sing a note in tune for the whole thing.

If you could point me in the direction of some decently-sang live tracks then I will be happy to rescind my argument, but I think some serious filtering went on if it only took two takes to record Complicated.
