It's very different and in another league compared to 'Change', I wish some people would stop reviewing their music as monotonous, then when they try and do something different being slated for it.

I hail them for having the balls to do an album like this when the music industry is a changing place at the moment.
They should never have released 'Girls' as a single however. It might have put people off buying what is potentially one of the best ever albums. Hanging On A Star should have been the first realise and probably would have been another number 1 for them. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=kCk60bCflD0 I'm surprised PopJustice said this ^ was the worst track. |

It seems a little hit and miss to me... and then I heard the track 'Can We Call A Truce'...
Maybe because the song/lyrics tie in with my relationship situation at the moment but I started to cry. Not had a song do that to me in absolutely ages. A really powerful track IMO! ![]() Had it on repeat and I'm listening to it for about the 10th time right now! |

I bought this yesterday and i love it! I still don't like Girls but it sounds nothing like the other tracks so i can just skip that one
![]() Tracks that have stood out so far are Side Chick, Sunday Rain, Every Heart Broken and Can We Call a Truce. I love it when Sugababes sing the slow tracks - i always have ![]() I was a bit worried it was all going to be 60s sounding, but it's actually not that obvious ![]() I'm gonna listen to it again............. |

I agree that the album can be a bit hit and miss...I mean, after a few listens I now actually like most tracks (still don't like Hanging on a Star and Beware) but there seems to be a real mixture of sounds on there. This isn't necessarily a BAD thing but will probably mean that most people won't like all the tracks.
My favourites are- as some others have already mentioned - Can We Call a Truce, Sunday Rain, Unbreakable Heart and Side Chick. "No Can Do" is reportedly the new single (wikipedia) which would be a mistake I think if true. Doesn't anybody agree Sunday Rain would make a fantastic Christmassy single? |

All the songs are good, but there's too many ballads on there. Don't get me wrong some of them are amazing (such as Every Heart Broken) but apart from Girls, there's not any upbeat tracks on there, something with Change had a good selection of (My Love Is Pink, Backdown, 3 Spoons of Suga, to name a few). I know they're trying to change their sound, but I actually wish they'd go right back to the days of 'attitude' such as Freak Like Me and Round Round, the last song which was 'different', in my opinion, was 'Easy'.
So good songs, but not a great album, if you know what I mean! |

Right, I LOVED "Change" & "Taller In More Ways" before that - I feel like "Hanging on a star" (I'm listening to it on YouTube now) is a grower. Is it worth me getting "Spotlights and Catfights" as I know people have said it is very different from the albums that I loved ... but then and again I am an avid 'babes fan
- should I even be asking?

I'd give it a go. I say it's one of their better ones but I didn't like Change much.
Catfights is a cross between Taller in More Ways and One Touch in my opinion. |

Ive Just Brought The Album And Here is My Track By Track Review!
1. Girls- A decent track but shouldn't have been the lead single. 2. You On A Good Day- Im not really feeling the track but i know alot of people really like this. 3. No Can Do- I Love The Track And Will Be A Great Single But Not At Xmas Time 4. Hanging On A Star- SCREAMS Song4Mutya, so quite uninspiring but an alright track. 5. Side Chick- My Favourite So Far, Really different to whats out right now, and I Love It! 6.Unbreakable Heart- Tempted to Skip 7. Sunday Rain- I really like this song, got the Winehouse/James Bond feel, This would be the perfect Xmas time single! 8. Every Heart Broken- Quite A Dark And Sinister Track Lyric Wise Which Contrasts With Their Vocals, And I Think Its Excellent, Not A Usual Sugababes Track But I Think This Is One Of Their Strongest Tracks To Date. 9. Beware- Its like A Follow On To Every Heart Broken And Although Not As Great Its Still A Good Track and Again Has The Kind Of Bond Feel. 10. Nothings As Good As You- The Kind Of Song I Can See Being On The Start Of Hollyoaks , But I Like The Songs Which Are On The Start Of Hollyoaks, Not Standout Strong But Is More Than Just Good. 11. Sound Of GoodBye- Don't Really Like This Much, I Only Like Ballads Which Have A Difference Or Really Stand out, Like Ciara's Promise or EveryHeart Broken or Sunday Rain On This Album. 12. Can We Call A Truce- I Like This Song The Vocals Are On Point! Better Ballad Than The Latter, Great Way To Close The Album! 13 & 14 - Shes Like A Star and About You Now...Great Songs !!!! Glad There The Bonus Tracks! Generally A Great Album! To Improve- Perhaps A Couple More Up-Tempos! Perhaps on a re-release ???

I absolutely agree with the OP. I think this is their best album since "Three" actually. Not to put the others down because I loved them all but there isn't one dud track on the latest album. Even though I think "Girls" shouldn't have been the lead single. "No Can Do" and "Every Heart Broken" are my personal faves.
