connecting all this up....
ok, so ive got (or will have)

freeview box
satellite box
dvd recorder
vcr
regular dvd player
and a TV with only 2 scart sockets. (all the components have 2 scarts except for the dvd player, which I could do away with if i had to) Ive been trying to think of ways in my head to connect it all together. The TV does have the old red white and yellow inputs at the back, so I could use this for one of them. I also know I could daisychain. BUT i cant think of a way I can record onto video and dvd from either sat OR fview. any ideas? |

dvd is LG dr275. it can only record analogue.
I want to keep the vcr if I can, cause I do use it sometiems. the dvd player could go. but occasionaly I like watching a DVD on it while the dvd recorder is recording. (not essential though) |

sky TV scart to TV AV 1 sky box set to RGB
DVD AV 1 to TV AV 2 Freeview AV 1 to DVD av 2 it says in manual that Dvd will not allow scart passthrough when power off, but nothing about standby. I feel sky box gives better picture than freeview , but thatsanother argument freesat + will come out next month and is your best option. You will find you will use this more than the dvd recorder for recording Just simply swap the VCR scart for the freeview scart or buy a scart switcher Seriously consider archiving any home movies you have to DVD or please consider buying the old films you have on VCR on DVD as they around £3 to £5 now and far better quality. You could move the VCR to a bedroom as well with the standalone dvd player.......... for all the times you watch it as said freesat + will be the answer you have been looking for |
