RDR-HXD870 and Thomson Sky box

Hi

I have a HXD870 which works fine with my main TV which has several SCART sockets and I can record, dub etc.

I now want to use it on a small portable which only has one SCART socket so I've cabled it SKY > DVD > TV with full SCART cables

The SKY box controls the TV fine, switching it to EXT when powered up, but if I then turn on the DVD recorder an try and play a DVD, the TV disconnects from the EXT port and reverts to a normal channel. i.e. 1.

Is there a setup parameter I'm missing, to extend this control, or do I need another TV with two SCART sockets ?

TIA

this is a firmware update for your device. You will need to read up if you need it

in fact it is an issue with timer recordings

with regards to scart I take it you have set Line 1 to Sky tv ( and set Line 1 to RGB on DVD and RGB on Sky box )

Line 3 which is OUT only goes your telly . On page 136 of manual it says ensure it is set to RGB as well as if set to component video out you may not get a signal via scart

Also if HDMI cable is used Line 3 will not work

And can the wee telly accept RGB ??

If you look at page 136 of manual there are 3 video settings VIDEO, RGB and S-VIDEO
in Line 3 Out. You may have to switch off RGB.

Thanks a lot for the comprehensive reply.

I've updated the sw to 1.65 but I think the problem was me ! Because the Sky box switched the TV, I expected the DVD to do the same, but once I selected EXT on the TVs remote, it retains that setting and the DVD works fine.

The wee TV ( I like that ) does accept RGB.

Thanks again.

I recently purchased a Sony RDR-HXD 870 DVD Recorder. It worked fine for a couple of months, but now it tends to freeze up during certain EPG updates, (Analogue channels only).

Does anyone know if there is any way to cancel these EPG updates, at least until my TV area goes digital?

When I record a programme I always do it manually, so I don’t need “The Guide+” information offered. I have four miserable terrestrial channels on it, so why on earth do these EPGs kick in several times a day for hours on end, every day?
