CD Wow price rise
Suddenly put their prices for chart albums to £12.99.
That's dear for an online store. Used to have a lot at £7.99 and most at £8.99. I used to buy from them but no more at those prices. Take longer to arrive than Play too. Hope this isn't the start of them all putting prices up.

If they want people to stop illegally downloading, and buy them physically, this is not the way to go

I can remember reading something a few years ago now saying that the likes of Cdwow and Play were inevitably going to have to put their prices up for varying reasons.
I must admit I haven't bought anything from cdwow for ages simply because I don't think their range is as good as the likes of Play. However, in the past I have bought chart CDs for a lot cheaper than either Play or Amazon. I just searched for Madonna's 'Hard Candy,' which has been out for over 6 months now, and their price is £12.99. I paid £9.99 for it back in May and have since seen it a lot cheaper on rival websites. I can only assume it must have something to do with sales being down in general. |

Yeah must be to do with sales being down so they want to make more on what they do sell.

DVDs are £12.48 for me, with CDs £7.48 because of my 'You at Work' discount. They seem to do a lot of '£1 off for a few hours' offers which are sometimes good.

Yeah but £12.99 for chart CD's is just ridiculous. Play are £4 cheaper then.

Sorry, appears that because I get a discount it still says £7.48 for me, whereas when I'm logged out it says £12.99. Surely it's a mistake?

I think the BPI made them put prices up because it was affecting sales in the retail shops around Europe. But that was a while ago and it made the CDs closer to £9 than £13.
I buy mine from HMV now. They're usually <£10 and since HMV is right near where my office is I get it the day it's out. |

I just used it to pre-order christina aguileras new album that isn't out for a while. Thought I would use it for a cd I was wanting to buy but the voucher would have run out by the time it comes out

Seems everyone's got a voucher then. Thought it was only those who'd ordered at the high prices at first!

Hello
Would anyone know the difference between single case and cd album when it comes to the format of a cd as described in cdwov's website. I have never bought anything from them. Thinking of buying a cd. The same cd appears with two different prices. A cheaper version for 6.99 (single case) and another one for 10.99 (CD album). Thr track listing is identical for both CDs. Would anyone know which one is the jewel case and which one is the cardboard packaging please. Thanks |

Supermarkets are generally the cheapest places to buy chart cd's, However when it comes to music stores I would have to say Hmv. If you register with their website they can send you emails whenever there's a sale on.

Hi thanks for reply.
the cd is whitesnake - good to be bad. On at 7.99 format single case and many other versions with different prices. One at 13.99 format CD album. They came up if you do a search for band and album name together. Thanks a lot. |
