I was just thinking, that any television performance I can think of by her has been mimed. and Her previous tours had been criticised for her miming.

When was the last time she actually sung live??

She "sung" about 2 songs live on The Onyx Hotel Tour I believe. 'Everytime' was a live performance if I remember correctly...

On her last tour, in 2004. She's only performed once since then, and we all know when it was! She actually used to sing live lots, but then when her shows became more entertaining, she focused on the show more rather than singing so much.

Not entirely true. Celine Dion mimed on it last year when she performed 'Taking Chances'.

Britney will definitely mime!

mhmm, a lot of people don't know but she does sing live, but she she normally has live band and/or heavy backing music - which I suspect will be the case with the X Factor.

But It doesn't make any difference, she sang live at the 03 VMA's with Madonna, but she mimed when performing Slave at the 01 VMA (with the python snake around her neck) - point being, both were arguably just as spectacular.

Guess I'm saying it doesn't matter either way, its the quality of performance, I'm not convinced totally that shes almost suddenly "back to normal" until I see her "back to her usual self/standard" onstage, then I'll be convinced.

Nobody goes to see Britney live solely for her voice, its the spectacle of the entire show - she is the ultimate entertainer, and has stage presence that can only be matched by legends like Michael Jackson and Madonna.

Anyway, making a comeback on the X Factor seems an odd choice to me, she'd reach a much bigger audience in some U.S show or MTV awards ceremony, she has her old manager back (the guy from the good old 1999 Britney days) so she is in good publicists hands, the guys a genius really, which makes this all the more odd - was this her or her managers idea, or both?

I suspect there will be a few cards up their sleeves anyway. In order for Britney too truly be back in the game (well hell, she'll never leave the business, even if she wanted to) IMO I've got to see if she has that classic stage presence like no other, the one people talk about the next day, or the one that makes everybody in the room shut up and just transfixed on the TV.

That can only come naturally to her if shes enjoying it, and is physically and mentally capable at this present time. We'll see.

If she doesn't sing live then she should not undertake concerts.

Anyone paying money to see a talentless waste of space prance around a stage and mime to a backing track is frankly an idiot.

Keep music live.

Agreed. I've never seen the point of watching a concert when the singer has mimed. May as well stay home and watch the video. At least the drinks are cheaper.

she does sing live but during the slow songs like Everytime and sometimes.... its hard to sing live when your sinnig fast songs and dancing at the same time Madonna sings live but she has a backing live track

What's with the dancing sh!t?

People go to gigs to hear music performed live.

Artists who dance on stage usually do so to try and distract you from the fact that they are sh!t singers.

Madonna, Kylie and Britney Spears are examples of this.

you are so wrong. i would rather spend £100 on a ticket to see a PERFROMANCE then watch someone standing up against a microphone waving there hands. Madonna Is a great example she hanst got a great voice but here dancing is fantastic and she still MAKES her songs great when she is LIVE. Britney is also fantastic you just have to youtube her Tours ect she has the best dancing and she CAN sing but IT IS really hard to sing LIVE to a fast song and dance at the same time

I really can't agree with this. As I said earlier I would rather stay at home and watch the video if they're not going to bother singing live.

LOL that's way off the mark. Watch live videos of Axl Rose (Guns N' Roses) and Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden) - proper singers, proper entertainers and would never be caught dead miming.

If Britney can't handle a live performance with live vocals then she's obviously not good enough.
