General advice for buying a sat nav please?
So - I'm looking to buy a sat nav that I can move from car to car when I'm not using a built-in type.
I'm looking to spend not more than about £100, any recommendations or advice on which to go for, or makes/models to avoid? |

Earlier this year I bought a Garmin Nuvi
A friend bought a TomTom. They both have slightly different features but out of the two the Garmin wins just slightly because it was a bit more precise finding places whereas the tomtom had other features that could be seen as plusses. You can change the garmin from Car to pedestrian or bike mode. And the way it makes choices about routes can be changed, "quickest route" "Most direct route" "no toll roads or charges" etc They are a great bit of kit and if you have no idea where you are going then they are a lifesaver, if your just getting it to pick the kids up from school everyday then don't bother (unless thats a 100 mile journey and you want to take some detours) I like the fact it recalculates your route if you decide to take a detour because the traffic ahead looks busy or you just get wanderlust |

Hi,
first I would recommend you a proper Buying Guide for GPS Systems. After this you could have a look on an article which compares several GPS System. At the end I would suggest the Garmin Nuvi 250Wthat retails at £150. I hope it helps! |

I have got a TT One v4 with the easy port mount and GPS quickfix which is really useful.
I had a minor problem with the application not allowing me to operate the unit from my PC but TT customer support have been very helpful and got it sorted. The map share is a good feature on TT and the map update service is not bat at 7.95 a quarter. Would recomend it to anyone and dont bother with the xl screen unless you are using the traffic |

I have a TT One XL. It may not have all of the features that the higher models have, but I only use it a few times a month and I find it perfect for my needs. If I was to be using one daily I'd probably spend a bit more and get the 730.

Is it only the TomToms that you can change the voices on?
