Flapjacks?

But don't ask me how...

I just know that oats are in there as well.

flapjacks are fairly easy to make:

heat 100g butter 100g brown sugar in a heavy pan (i use my cast iron wok!), when the butter starts to melt add 75g of golden syrup and stir till all the sugar has dissolved, then add 250g of oats and stir.

Add mixture to an ovenproof/greased dish/tray and bake on about 175 - 180 C for 25 mins. (just check it's not going black on top )

when you take it out of the oven it'll still look like molten lava, so cut into whatever size pieces you want now to make it easier.

Leave to cool and harden and there ya go .. a tasty use of oats

enjoy

My dad's favorite: Oatmeal Cake
1 cup oats
1 1/4 cup boiling water
Combine and set aside.

1 stick (1/2 cup) margarine
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
Cream the butter and sugars.

2 eggs
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
Add to the creamed mixture and beat well. Then add the oatmeal and beat until very light.

1 teaspoon each: soda, cinnamon,
1 1/3 c flour
Sift these together, then add to cake batter and mix well.
Pour into 9 inch x 13 inch pan and bake at 350 degrees F (~177 C?) for 30 - 35 minutes. While cake is baking, prepare the topping so you can apply it to the cake as it comes hot out of the oven.

Topping ingredients to stir together:
6 tablespoons margarine, 1 cup shredded coconut, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 cup chopped nuts, 4 tablespoons evaporated milk

Other uses:
-Process the oats a bit (or a lot) in the blender/food processor and use as a flour in homemade bread/muffins.
-Add to ground beef for "meatloaf" (along with diced tomato, green bell pepper, onion, egg, Wooscestershire, and spices to taste)

And for a little breakfast variety - http://www.mrbreakfast.com/subcatego...ubcategoryid=7
