Have to say I hated the song, but each to his own. Wasn't Adrian Gurvitz in a band called the Baker-Gurvitz Army with inger Baker (drummer from Cream).

Don't know what happened to Adrian Gurvitz after "Classic".

Yes he was in The Baker Gurvitz Army with Ginger Baker and his brother Paul Gurvitz. I used to love their first album and when I saw them live Ginger Baker played a drum solo that had people actually coming back from the bar to see it! Must track down a copy at some point.

Adrian Gurvitz was the guitarist is a band called Gun who had a hit in 1968 with a track called Race With The Devil, considered to be the first heavy metal track - or at least laying the foundations for such.

Have a quick look http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=iHrwgvhX3ko

Classic was alrightish but not his best. Not really sure what happened to him after this except he was writing for his step daughters group No Secrets before they split. Proably sessioning in the US of A. Theres a couple of solo albums from the early 2000's - No Compromise and Classic Songs listed but I have never heard them.

Surprised they got away with that name, sounds like an extreme left wing terrorist group.

Yes it was a decent tune but he ruined it completely with the line "gonna write it in an attic". Awful

lol, yeah, that line is right up there aint it?

Must admit I'd been going through the old charts and limewiring songs from when I was just old enough to remember the charts........'Classic' made the list, as did REO Speedwagon's 'Keep On Loving You', which I used to hate.......

But as I settle into middle age I find myself becoming increasingly partial to overblown AOR.........

Oh I so hate REO Speedwagon. As somebody once said, "the most interesting thing about them is their name". They started out as a pretty good West Coast rock band but they when they went AOR they lost it.

Mind you that song that goes "I heard it from a friend, who heard it from a friend..." could be the theme song for posters who post some spoilers over on the Dr Who forum!!

...it was later covered by all-female NWOBHM band Girlschool, rock on!
