I know this has been done a million times before, but I am now asking in light of Simply Red's (I think its them) cover of Go Now, a song made famous by the Moddy Blues. Its due for release soon judging by the amount of times Commercial radio stations play it.

They have tried to make it "up tempo" and contemporary, and they have just ruined the passion and the emotion of the Moody Blues' version.

Why did they feel the need to tinker with it, its a song that will do well across generations and actually, Mick Hucknall, would have a good enough voice to do it justice.... but this arrangement is cringe worthy.

Have you heard Avril Lavigne's covers of "Chop Suey" by System of a Down, "Imagine" by John Lennon, and "The Scientist" by Coldplay?

The worst Ive ever heard was Madonnas cover of American Pie. I was annoyed that people bought it and it was a hit, cos it encouraged the effort

Would totally agree with the Sugababes/Girls Aloud version of W.T.W,but it was for charity.

American Pie was a damn insult, but let's not forget Will Young's version of Light My Fire,Wet Wet Wet's Love is All Around or Britney's I Love Rock N Roll

Mariah Carey singing Without You.

The song was originally released by Bad Finger and made famous, for want of a better description, by Harry Nilsson. He sang it beautifully.

And then Mariah Carey murdered the bloody song. It sounded like a cat being turned inside out. Horrendous!

Willie Nelson's cover of Hallelujah

One of the most covered songs ever, but he's the only person I've ever heard kill it quite that much. Awful, just awful.

For me the greatest rock song of all time is All Right Now by Free.

Take a look and listen of Pepsi and Shirley "singing" their version of it:

My sincere apologies to you all. I should have never put the link here!

I've not heard the other two, but that version is awful.

Kate Nash kills Fluorescent Adolescent by Arctic Monkeys.

This question keeps appearing here and my 1st choice as the worst ever cover of all time hasn't changed.....

It's the Cascada version of Just Like A Pill !! I first heard it on YouTube and I honestly thought there was something wrong with the audio on YouTube ! Thankfully they've never actually released it as a single....hopefully they never will !!

But Will wasn't covering The Doors "Light My Fire", it was Jose Feliciano's version he was covering. I don't like any of them. And I am a Will Young fan as everybody knows.

Originally done by the doors though. As one report said in a music magazine at the time, Jim Morrison must be turning in his grave.
