I've just bought one of these since my 4-year-old DVDR615 has gone pffft... well, it suddenly would only want to record from the start of each disc, rather than the next available space or simply where I tell it to record from, and it would no longer divide title.

Anyway, for the DVDR615 I had my TiVo connected to EXT1 and a Freeview box to EXT2 and I'd record from both, depending on what I required.

I get the the DVDR3480 and it'll let me select EXT2, DV, CAM... fine, but.... why not EXT1? I don't connect that to the TV in my case because that's all handled at the TiVo end of things.

If I can't select EXT1 then why would Philips drop a straight-forward feature?

Oh, and it's just crashed within 40 mins of using it, which isn't a good sign.

Any advice on the EXT1 query would be welcome, thanks.

I just tried connecting the TiVo (from its VCR SCART, by the way) to EXT2 and whatever's happening there's no signal being fed back to to the TiVo which then goes to the TV, so I can't even record from that SCART either!

I just had a look at my Liteon DVD recorder in the bedroom (it's not great as you can't divide titles or record over stuff, even on a DVD+RW, and the remote's as flat as a pancake) and saw that that can only record from one of its SCARTs too - even though the TiVo in that one seems to be happy with recording to it.

Are all DVD recorders these days picky about which SCART they'll record from?
