I can't understand why Diana is ruining her prospective career with her own hands...

she is a good singer, and I would like to root for her - but I can't. I find it disturbing and distracting to watch her constantly doing the same stupid movments with her hands.

It's really unnecessary. Someone with a good voice doesn't need to over act like this. She should know how to use those hand gestures in the right moment in the song - maybe once or twice. But if she'll continue to do it every second like a cycle, she will get on everyone's nerves and won't get very far.

I think the odd one is fine but she is taking it too far....shame since everything else is perfect.
Hope she tones it down sooner rather than later!

maybe she wants to do hand modelling if the x factor doesnt work out!

Diana probably thinks it adds character. Personally it doesn't look good at all. I think 'god, what are her hands doing now' rather than 'oh shes singing quiet well'

I don't really think she thinks about it that much, if she did she would put it more in with the song.

It seems like something she has just picked up, like a bad habit

Its might be her way of singing better the same way as some sing with thier eyes shut, very petty

She's a poor man's Katie Melua - and I don't mean that as a compliment!

How can you compare here to Katie? Katie can sing

I think it might be nice to stop with the obsession over her hands ... there are lots of quirky singers out there, all with their own little foibles.

Mariah always does the same thing with her hands, Jackson is forever grabbing his n*ts, Jagger does his pouty thing, Elvis always curled his lip and Sandie Shaw never wore shoes .... so what?

I just want to reach inside my TV set and tape her arms to her sides when she sings.

Haha

It's like she's working an imaginary sock puppet while she sings - very annoying.

I can't see how the level of hand movements she does will affect how she finishes in the competition!

Haha, me and hubby were watching her on that swing and I suddenly filled with rage and shouted WHY ARE YOU SHOWING ME YOUR PALMS?!!?!??

I reckon it's hypnosis. She's trying to hypnotise us all into thinking she can knock out a tune that doesn't sound crackly and flaky. No dice, Diana!!

The hand gestures are really annoying. If she is not using them to stroke her face, she uses them as if to remind everyone that she has five fingers no matter which way her hand is facing. So irritating.

dave6666 because it is so bloody annoying & distracting, she is trying too hard to be cool..........i do like her voice but that is getting lost as i find her so irritating

I'll be interested to see how she can fit her palm-showing-face caressing-hand-flapping nonsense into a disco track...but then again, they will no doubt bend the rules for her (like they did this week) and find some non disco track for her to murder...again.

Perhaps she's had a bad trip at some point during her life and has to constantly check that her hands haven't fallen off.

Alternatively, perhaps it's a coded message to the other aliens hidden across the world that it's time to initiate their plan to steal all the shoes on the planet, thereby leaving the human race with sore feet and unable to defend themselves effectively against a bombardment from Diana's orbital weapons platform.
