Why does he insist on disgracing his wife's memory week in, week out, for a reality TV show?

Grief used to be a respectful and private thing. For him, it's a gimmick.

its ok to accuse someone of riding the coat tails of their dead wife? but it's too far to use a commonly used phrase? ok OP. nice alternative universe youre living in.

Now I truly think he is using it as a gimmick or way to get sympathy, not just the producers.

It's getting on my nerves!!

If he's kept in we know he'll go out next week, who knows how long Scott can scrape his way through?

She wanted him to go on X Factor and that's why he finally went on. He's doing it for her, why shouldn't he mention it?

He should be home looking after his baby for his dead wife instead of making my ears bleed.

FFS. He's dedicating it to his wife. It's his choice, why shouldn't he?

Have a heart, ffs.

FFS his wife dying is the biggest thing to affect his life - why wouldnt he mention it??? I dislike the overuse of sob stories, but i think he seems nice enough.

Quite right. Its not like he can influence the public vote on the back of it - its down to the judges.

Good on him.

It really annoys me. It's sooooo two months ago (the sob story that is). No need to keep bringing it up.

I don't like the constant use of sob stories but with these I disagree OP - he was asked what song he was doing and he said this one and why.

Because it's a personal thing, or at least should be. A few private thoughts, inwardly, backstage before he performs would be a much more respectful and fitting tribute in my opinion.

It's like two people making a donation to charity. One does it out of the goodness of their heart, and doesn't tell anyone.

The other makes the same donation, but does it to appear caring and tells everyone who will listen.

They've both made the same donation, but who's is more meaningful?

It's cringeworthy if not awkward to watch.

I'm embarrassed for him... that performance was emotional blackmail.
