I've recently purchased the above. It's a great TV, does widescreen switching very well, good SCART control, nice sound - only one 'slight' problem:

Everytime the picture changes from a dark scene to a bright white or other bright colour scene, the whole picture will flicker for about half a second. It is especially noticably whilst watching music videos as these often have rapid cuts/scene changes.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I've already swapped it with the shop once. No it's not the SCART, I've tried loads, no it's not RGB, and no it's not my source (s), which is a Freeview box and an analogue sat box.

The only thing I will say, which is slightly contradictary to the above, is that using a Panasonic Sky digibox, the picture is stable, and anything routed through that is also stable. But nevertheless, it makes for very unwatchable viewing when the picture's flickering every minute or so, and it doesn't do it on any other TV I've tried.

i had one of these televisions but a 32" model. it did exactly the same as yours. i sent it away and they sent it back saying that it falls within acceptable picture quality levels. so i sent it back and got my money refunded. i looked around the net and found this problem to be a common one for the thomson tubes...they are basically crap especially the newer models.

my advice is take it back get you money back and buy a jvc 28" wide screen tele...they are excellent quality.

It's terrible flicker isn't it!! Do the JVC's do widescreen switching properly? I also purchased a 28" Philips, which has won loads of awards - oh god it's awful! Doesn't do switching properly. Ie if you zoom up a 4:3 picture, it then ignores the widescreen switch when you then choose BBC1 for example, and the sound quality was awful.
