Is Ruth a contender to win this now?
I suppose a lot depends on the voting demographic although last proves that if you are bad you could still go even as a male.
Danni Minogue started this by thinking Ruth was her cannon fodder but Ruth is very much the best over 25 and at 33/1 there is worse bets out there. |

Everyone is a contender until they get booted off, regardless of how good or garbage they may be.

I have a feeling either Diana or Laura will win - but it could be anyone. Look at last year, did anybody ever predict Leon would win?

I think Ruth is probably one of those acts who will always be walking on a shoe string, given the right songs I think she could win it; but given the competition (and the vicious fanbases they have) I don't think she can afford to be anything less than perfect in order to do it.
In other words; I think Purple Rain shocked and Summertime opened up the possibility, she has a very good chance. But if she has a bad week it could be curtains. Also you have to take into account Eoughan; who I think could pull off a Leon. You don't have to be good to win, last year was embarassing. I hate to say it but as long as that boy is in; I don't think anyone is safe. |

I can see her reaching the final five or six.

I think it's entirely possible, looking back Niki "Dead Dad" Evans was the best of a very weak overs category last year getting to the semis... and Ruth's a lot better than her.
Daniel's pretty weak and won't last much longer, only getting through thanks to a bit of an R Wayne moment - Rachel put in a good show last night and I imagine that'll give her a stay of execution but I'm looking at a Ruth/Diana/Laura final right now. |

Ruth might struggle in disco week, remains to be seen what song she's given, truthfully it should be eogan and daniel in the bottom 2 next week but eoghan has a bigger fanbase than Ruth and as good as Ruth was last night, Rachel was better

I love Ruth, but I just don't think she'll win it. She definitely has the talent, but unfortunately, she doesn't get the teeny vote, or the granny vote, she's got no sob story...she's just a cracking good singer, but unfortunately, that doesn't (usually) win you the x factor!

![]() I was and still am a huge fan of Leon, voted for him every week from the get go. for me the only three in this competition are Laura,Austin and Ruth.im not interested enough in the others. Ruth was fantastic last night.absolute class performance. Simon was wrong to compare her to Leona. newsflash Mr Cowell....i prefer Ruths version.

It's really heartening that Ruth is now becoming popular, coz she really has something special. I think she definitely is a contender - she plays the part of each song she sings really well.
She reminds me of Sheryl Crow for some reason

It's crucial for Ruth to always stay out of the bottom 2.
IMO the only person the judges would keep Ruth in over is Daniel. If she's up against any of the others then I don't think the judges will save her. |

Ruth is fantastic and leaves the others for dust as far as I am concerned.

I really hope people get behind Ruth but she definitely needs to deliver a great performance every week. She doesn't have the fanbase of some of the weaker acts but she will pick up votes by maintaining a high standard every week.
There is so much talent this year. If this lot were spread out over the 5 years 5 or 6 of them could reach the final. Vocally Ruth is definitely one of the best this year IMO. |

I don't think she is unfortunately. She didn't have the public support when she gave a good performance in MJ week, and unless she keeps on delivering amazing performances I don't think she will stay much longer. Next week could be bad for her, as while there is good songs for her to choose from, none will give her (or anyone for that matter) a "moment", and unless she has one of those "That was amazing Ruth" weeks, she will be in the bottom.

No criminal past ?
No dead husband ? No tales of childhood bullying ? In fact,no sob stories. Of course she won't win. All she has is bucketloads of talent. So . No chance !! |
