Questions About The Judges...
Sorry if these questions have already been discussed, - but I was wondering if anybody knew...
- Do the judges actually get to choose the songs for each contestant, or do the producers have a say? - Do they get the full say on who is selected for their category, or are they told who to put through? - What do they do in the ad breaks??? Am just interested to know lol

I think the mentors do choice the song choice's, yes.
I think Simon ultimately decides who goes through the audition stages. Apparently Dannii, Louis and Cheryl were all for putting through Duane Lamonte and Jade (15 years old) at bootcamp but Simon said no so it never happened. And no way do I believe that Dannii through Daniel was more talented than Susie. No clue. |

There are only so many songs available, the ones that ITV can afford the rights to or that have been released to be covered by other artistes. The producers do most of the work on the show, not the judges, but as mentors I think Dannii and Cheryl do take it seriously and put a lot of work into it.
Who goes through to the final 12 IS the decision of the judges but they get a lot of advice from the producers on what makes good TV and also on who the others are picking so that we don't end up with 12 too similar acts - or even 3 too similar in the same category as that splits the votes. All of the judges are busy on other things, there are hundreds of people working on the show and who is selected is also based on backstories and research info that might come out later - last year they failed to know that one of the contestants was on phonecam beating up other girls - they try to research all that sort of stuff. So, it's all a joint decision with programme makers, ITV execs and the judges too. |
