ALREADY OUT SELLING THE ENTIRE TOP 5!

On course to be the biggest selling single of 2008 thus far!

I do think Cheryl Cole being on The X Factor has been a great help in getting Girls Aloud to the top spot, but I do love their single The Promise.

yeah i think that cheryl being on the X Factor has helped them alot...but every one of their singles to date has been in the top 10 anyway. But yeah, i didnt like The Promise when i first heard it, but i like it now after a few listens.

I do like The Promise, and i'm really happy that it got to number 1 - it was long long long overdue - but i do think Cheryl on the X Factor played a big part. Its a good song, but not a patch on Something Kinda Ooooh, Biology or Call The Shots all of which missed #1. What a coincidence

As for this new 'group' effort, i don't even need to hear it to know it will be shite

I think this is one of those "well, duh" things.

It was always going to be number 1. It's safe, it's for something people care about and it's from a massive TV show.

It's a shame that they released something so cliché and unoriginal.

I think everyone should buy/download the Hero single.
How could anyone not be moved by those soldiers in the audience? I cried.
I wouldn't care if the song was absolute crap I would still buy it and will be putting extra in the Poppy collecting tins this year - those guys deserve every penny and nothing anyone can say will make me think any differently - so there!!

Yes they do. So send the cost of the CD straight to the charity. If you pay income tax you can probably sign a Gift Aid form which will add the best part of another quid to the charity's coffers as well.

And a mass demand from the public to the government that the latter must immediately ensure that our troops have all the necessary equipment, and proper treatment if they are injured, wouldn't go amiss either. (Dismounts soapbox.)

Hear hear, it's just another 'I need my ego boosted some more' from Cowell, only a measly 29p will get to the soldiers from the cd sales, give £2 for a poppy instead or send it straight to the fund instead, why feed Cowell's ego and bank balance? If he was so bloody caring, why doesn't he donate a month of his overpayed salary to them instead?

I'm sure that at least one of the acts feels anti-war to some extent, don't most of the general public? Wish one of them had the balls to tell Simon to eff off. I would have done.

I've put my cash into collecting box & bought a poppy. At least I know where the cash is going - British Legion. Not getting involved in all this hype to make SC look like a good guy doing his bit for charity

BREAKING NEWS FROM THE SUN

Girls Aloud have lost their number 1 position.

Hero sold 100,000 copies yesterday alone making it the fastest selling singleo the year. Should have sold well over 200,000 by the end of the week.

lets face it, its all a publicty stunt for the x factor.

buy a poppy and all the money goes to people who need it.

mr cowell is just making more money off a charity single, sick bastard.

plus it will be the only #1 the xfactor get this year.

BUY PETER KAYS CD WHEN IT COMES OUT AND LETS HAVE A PROPER XMAS #1

not some puppet on a string who waits almost a year to release another song and goes on the xgactor for cheap publicty
