We want a new phone line installing with the option of ADSL service such as sky, be, talk talk etc

It appears we have no choice but to get installed by BT with a 12 month contract despite people like sky offering cheaper line rental.

Anyone know of another company that will get openworld to do a new connection cheaper than the rip off bt?

It is difficult as although any of them can, most don't want to as they don't want to pay Open Reach the £104 to install a line, they would rather pay the £2.35 to take over a current line.

Sky do offer cheaper line rental, but only by 50p, they also prevent you from accessing cheap call providers, so the 50p saving is completely wiped out and more in higher call charges.

BT will do a new line for £29.99 on an 18 month contact. It's not a rip off, it's by far the cheapest available.

You also can have broadband from Sky if the OP so wished.

With the BT line you can opt for free caller display, you can also use cheap call providers like Call 18185. (Just don't put all the calls through 18185, as you need to make so many calls via BT to keep the £29.99 line install etc).

I've spoken to BT they their install is £124.99 and the cheapest line rental they can offer is £11.50 where as sky is £10 plus I wouldn't get a bill with BT and HAVE to pay by direct debit to qualify for the £11.50 offer....

Regarding calls it's not actually gonna make a difference, I only want the landline for broadband... I use my mobile for everything else.

Link to BT for £29.99 installation.

BT line rental is £10.50 month paying by DD with paperless bills. Sky line rental is £10 month paying by DD.

0800 800 800 - COT (Customer Options Team) will do the £29.99 offer.

'Normal' sales people aren't allowed to.

This all just adds to another reason why I don't want to go through BT.... it all feels a little cloak and dagger, I just want a simple cheap provider.... BT are anything but it appears!

How do I then get a paper bill and them to match Sky's price?

It's 50p more, jeez, pay BT the £30 to have the line installed, and pay them the £10.50 a month for the line rental (if you don't make calls, this shouldn't bother you).

You can then get Sky broadband, which is what you presumably want, and what you'll save on that, will more than cover the 50p you are spending each month.
