There is a S60 client, however you are liable to hammer your data plan. So I doubt many people actually use it.

Yeh, I've used SymTorrent, a Series 60 Symbian bittorrent client, on my Nokia N95 over Wi-Fi and it works fairly well.

Think that there is also a BitTorrent client for Windows Mobile too. Not used one though. Not much point.

You would need a smartphone to use a torrent client. O2 exclude the use of torrents from the Web Bolt-On.

if you did use a mobile version of bittyrent, whats to stop peoploe using it via wifi when they are out and about?
it wouldnt be using your data allowance, and your mobile provider wont know that you are using torrents too.. just an idea?

(specially since my phone is just a phone and nothing else)

No there isn't. You are thinking of the pay and go bolt-on. It isn't a cap though, you can go over it, but they will eventually warn you.

Have a look at the Tariffs section of the O2 website for details.

I have always heard that 02 pay monthly data bolt on is 200mb (due to fair usege)
Iphones had that limit cut to proper unlimited..

but you are part right, it does say here tha (but this is for their wifi bolt on)

to me mobile phone torrents are just a technical exercise in showing that it can be done rather than something useful.

Symtorrent works ok on my N95 8gb. I use the wifi at work to download, so no charges..he he! But...it is slow. A single US 30 minute sitcom (which is about 175mb by the way) can take 3 hours to download. And my battery will go from being completely full to totally flat in about 4 hours. Like a previous poster said...interesting but not very practical.

The link you gave didnt throw to a direct link, just a page of more links. any chance you could direct me a bit better.
Not that i don't believe you, i would love to have a direct link to paste on another forum where a similar thread is going on.

On a hypothetical route.. although using p2p on a mobile is not allowed via 02, would it be allowed it you are using it via your own wi-fi?

You'll notice the page uses javascript which means you can't directly link. Just click on the + next to Pay Monthly Terms and Conditions. Or goto the O2 press releases section when they announced it. Or any mobile news site that reported the policy change. Or you could even search Digital Spy, because it has been discussed extensively on here.

o2 can not see what you are doing on your phone using wifi unless of course it is a public wifi network provided by o2. See the post that I quoted and read it in context
