T&C 6 is interesting:

“6.1.We can change the conditions of this agreement including our charges at any time. We will publish details on line at http:www.eze-gift.com www.eze-gift.co.uk”

Neither URL exists!

The first one certainly doesn't exist. The second one does seem to resolve OK, pings OK, but is refusing http connections.

Hi

I work for eZe Talk and to clarify a point on contract terms, we do exactly what most of the other telecom companies do in the UK and that is to have a contact term in place for all customers. This allows us to offer such low rates as we need to have the customer billing with us for a 12 month period just to recover some profit in to the business, to help pay for my wages!!!

As your message states, you have a contract running from MAY to MAY so you are completely free to tell the company that you wish to leave during APRIL and then you can leave without any cancellation fee.

I hope this clarifies the issue re contracts.

So in plain English - the page fails to display?

A contract that automatically assumes you want to sign up for another year if you fail to advise otherwise? That can't be right can it? Why aren't all the mobile phone networks doing this?

I would have thought that this would fall foul of the unfair contracts legislation. Any decent solicitor would blow it out of the water!

My father has always had his phone and broadband supplied by BT. Recently he had a call from Eze-Talk who tried to get him to swap. During the conversation my father was shocked when the caller told him his bank sort-code and account number and asked to confirm if they were correct. He had never given them this information. Not wishing to change, he told the caller he was not interested

A few days later my father received a letter stating that unless he cancelled in 10 days, Eze-Talk would start taking money from his account. Not surprisingly, he was very worried because he had not agreed to anything with Eze-Talk and had not signed any agreement with them

When he asked me what to do, I advised him to go straight to his bank and to cancel any payments that had been set up. I also advised him to contact his local trading standards office or the police regarding his bank details

My father is very deaf and had explained this to the original caller. I believe they may have taken advantage of this to con him. It seems they have some very dubious sales techniques, but that does not concern me as much as how they got his bank details. My personal advice is to avoid this company completely.

A followup to my previous post. My father went to the bank and found that Eze-Talk had already set up a direct Debit without his knowledge. Obviously, he cancelled it straight away. He had also not been told how much the payments were going to be. In fact, they did not tell him what services he was buying at all.

We still don't know how Eze-Talk got hold of his bank details, though we are pursuing the matter.

I use to be a customer for eze-talk. What I didn't know was that one of staff members cancelled my contract without my knowedege or my permission to do so. So when I got my phone bill and noticed that calls that I was paying for that was suppose to do through eze-talk ended up on BT bill. After a couple of weeks of eze-talk trying to say that I cancelled the contract when I did not that was when I found out after getting in touch with someone that was when I found out about the member of staff doing what he/she did.

After another weeks of phone calls and e-mails I eventually got the calls remebirused from them as it was their fault. I am glad that I have now moved home and go not use their service anymore and I would advise anybody not to use their service either.
