My father has always had his phone and broadband supplied by BT. Recently he had a call from Eze-Talk who tried to get him to swap. During the conversation my father was shocked when the caller told him his bank sort-code and account number and asked to confirm if they were correct. He had never given them this information. Not wishing to change, he told the caller he was not interested
A few days later my father received a letter stating that unless he cancelled in 10 days, Eze-Talk would start taking money from his account. Not surprisingly, he was very worried because he had not agreed to anything with Eze-Talk and had not signed any agreement with them
When he asked me what to do, I advised him to go straight to his bank and to cancel any payments that had been set up. I also advised him to contact his local trading standards office or the police regarding his bank details
My father is very deaf and had explained this to the original caller. I believe they may have taken advantage of this to con him. It seems they have some very dubious sales techniques, but that does not concern me as much as how they got his bank details. My personal advice is to avoid this company completely.
