LG 50PC56 problem
Brentford Bob
28-10-2008
Hi, I have an LG 50PC56 plasma TV.

When I watch a standard DVD through a scart cable the TV seems to take a split second to focus on a still image. When there is movement on the screen it's not noticable. The same thing happens if you connect a camera to the television via the yellow AV socket - when each image appears it's very slightly blurred and then becomes sharp.

The DVD player is old-ish (Tosh SD330E) but quite good - if I were to invest in an upscaling DVD player and HDMI lead would this problem go away? Or how about a really good scart lead?

Please help!

Or more likely turn off all the dynamic picture mangling stuff they seem to put inside TVs these days.

I have an LG telly and it has loads of picture controls that only seem to get in the way of getting a good picture. Basically turn off all the picture enhancement stuff and leave yourself with just the basics of colour, contrast and brightness. That is what I have done and frankly the picture is all the better for it.

Changing leads won't make much difference I suspect because it is likely being caused by all the automatic picture adjustment stuff. Which will still happen no matter how you connect your DVD etc.

Thanks Chris.

I've tried turning all the stuff on the TV but it's still the same.

Interestingly, when I connect up a Nintendo Wii with a component cable, the problem disappears.
