'Rock legends Led Zeppelin are planning to tour and record but without frontman Robert Plant.

Bassist John Paul Jones told BBC Radio Devon that a new singer was being sought after Plant ruled himself out.

The last time the band performed together was at the O2 arena in London in December 2007. Speculation has since been rife that the surviving members of the band, with Jason Bonham, son of their late drummer John Bonham, would go back on the road.

Jones, speaking at a guitar show in Exeter, Devon said: "We are trying out a couple of singers.

"We want to do it. It's sounding great and we want to get on and get out there." '

Cool - maybe now they'll be able to play all their songs without having to detune so much that the strings are hanging off Page's guitar neck . . . .

They should go with Terry Reid.

The original choice (along with Steve Marriott) in 1968. STILL has a great voice and still making fine music.

Form a new band , new name, play some old zep songs, fine, but, as it is, having a new singer wouldn't be 'Led Zeppelin'.

Having Rob Plant in the band wasn't Led Zeppelin either IMO - he's just past it. At the O2 the band had to seriously detune to accomodate his reduced vocal range, and the songs just didn't sound right . . . .
