Hi,
I would like to record from my VHS player onto the HDD of my Pioneer DVD recorder but I am not sure how to connect it up to do this.
I currently have the Sky+ box connected to the DVD recorder through the Scart and the aerial is inserted in the Digital Antenna socket with the output I think going to the video.
Do I need to temporarily put the Scart from the video into the socket currently used by the Sky+ box and then go to the L1 channel and record like I would normally from Sky? Or is there a way to have everything connected to allow this, and if so what channel on the DVD recorder would I go to to record the video?

Thanks for your help.

Hi

If this is only to record a some tapes etc, ie a temporary solution then the easiest connection would be as follows:

Scart 1 (output) from DVD to TV
Scart 1 (outpuit from Video to DVD scart 2*

*If you experience sound but no picture or very poor picture then you may need to use Scart 2 from video.

From this connection simply select scart 2 on DVD recorder to record. This should also give the best possible quality.

If you are retaining the video setup and hoping to integrate all (so you can retain recording from Video to DVD) then the setup will be dependent on your requirements and connections available. In this case please supply number of scart sockets on all devices and the order of priority for Sky, DVD and Video and I will be able to confirm the best way to connect everything.:

Does you Pioneer have an additional input under the front flap, which you select as L2 ?

TV has 2 scart sockets, VHS has one Scart socket, DVD has 2 Scart sockets, Sky+ has 2 Scart Sockets.

There is an L2 channel.

So wouldn't it be easiest to use L2 for your vcr and L1 for your Sky box ?
