Does anyone think this will dramatically change the odds of him becoming a real competitor to the X-factor crown.

Alot of people seem to think that the girls have it in the bag this year, but if we were to weed out 2 of the girls leaving Austin and 1 of the girls in the final, Austin could really pull something out of the bag....

Although Austin is in my bottom 3 of acts I'd like to win, I don't deny that he is a strong contender in the competition.

I think if this scenario were to occur the bookies odds would even out considerably....

What does everyone else think?

I most definitely think Austin has a fighting chance in the competition. He's not my favourite but he's undeniably talented.

Young males always have a good chance of winning. Who would have thought we'd end up with 2 in the final last year. It was all about the groups. And Ray getting to final the year before, and Shayne's year, it looked like the over's were the best.

I think if he's given the right songs then he could very well make it to the final. The girls, although I'm a fan of most, will have to be wittled down eventually.

I hope he makes it to the final this year, although the girls are overshadowing him at the minute and if they were whittled down then maybe Austin could step out of their shadow and show how good he really is.

I love Austin, hes getting better each week.
he hasnt peaked too soon which is great.
together with Laura hes my joint favourite now.
think he has a good chance of upsetting the odds and winning this.
a lovely guy whos worked hard to get where he is and incredibly talented.

he will cry like a little girl, expect to see buckets of tears if Austin makes it to the final 2 (praying he wont). I think his problem is that he trys to hard and he wants to be better than everyone else on x factor (which he is clearly not)

Really don't understand where you get that impression from, to me he just gets on stage & does the job, he doesn't act like he thinks he's better than anyone at all.

In fact, this years bunch I think are the most genuine from whats seen on the website videos & Xtra Factor etc, they do all genuinely seem to get on & support each other.

I don't get comments about Austin like "Trying too hard", "desperate to win", and "Crying like girls"!!! They are all desperate to win!!

Austin was sent back home last year during bootcamp because Simon said he didn't want it enough!! He was told to come back next year and prove that he really wants it. Comparing Austin to the boys in his category last year, he definitely deserved to be in the finals. He was robbed of this chance last year and he couldn't risk it again. He needed to show the judges that he CLEARLY wants it more than anyone else in the competition which is what he did .

As for being in the final this year, I think he definitely deserves to be in the last 3 but it won't happen unless Simon gives him songs that suit his voice. Along with Alexandra, Austin has been the most consistent act till now. He just needs one opportunity to show what he can do (Like Rachel did with Feeling good).

I'm a huge Austin fan... and i would love it if he won... but if i'm to be honest then i have to say i think it will be one of the girls. If Austin was a contestant in one of the previous shows then he would of walked it.

I dn't believe this at all. Is just the shows editing,he hasn't cried at all during the live shows. And even if he does cry, whats the big deal, he's emotional, this is his dream. The pressure, stress, emotions of the wholejourney would make anyone cry. I'm sure all the others have cried loads too, they just havent focused on it.

Austin is amazing, his voice isn't just amazing, it has a uniqueness to it, which I love.

Austin to win !!!!!!

I think the tide is turning...historically young males have done better, but as we have seen in American Idol, the girls excel while the boys lag slightly behind...and as we all know what happens in America tends to become the trend here. I don't believe young males have the power they once did.

I think he can do it. He's winning over more and more people every week, and he's very versatile. Not one of his live show perfomances have been the same.
And he hasn't cried on the lives shows erm...ever, so I wish some people would stop trying to use that as a valid point against him. Of course he cried on his VTs, he would have been pushed and pushed for emotion at an already emotional time. And I don't see why that's suddenly wrong.
I'd love it if he won, he deserves to, as do quite a few of them this year, but if he won I'd be very happy with the result.

Ok Austin really bugs me.. don't know what it is exactly but i just don't like him..... However i can't deny the fact that he does have a good voice and his recording voice on Hero is actually great(god that nearly killed me saying that)

If im totally honest i can actually see him making the top three at least.

He is too desperate for my liking...I get the impression he would sell his own Granny to make it. A very unattractive quality IMO.

I don't understand the 'desperate' thing..he hasn't said or done anything on the live shows to show desperation, if you think he would turn on his own family to get there then you quite clearly have this guy totally wrong IMO

Even Ray got 40% against Leona.

I would be astonished if Austin isn't in the final 2 with Eoghan and Austin is far better than him. I don't like Austin but I think he has this in the bag.

Once Daniel is put out of his misery, the girls will drop like flies.

OMG how anybody can judge music and artist in this way. I have only one benchmark - my heart -if the music/artist hits my heart then I become a fan. I don't care at all what are the trends....especially in America
Music is the art to me, not some trendy thing that people shoud adjust to.

I don't think I do...for someone that age to be so aching to succeed...it makes me question what else he has in his life.

He has even dressed as a girl to make it big..even the judges felt he was desperate. Someone his age should be more like Eoghan....chilled and relaxed about it all, having fun and enjoying every minute. The fact he cries about it, suggests he is very desperate indeed.

In an ideal world everyone would vote like you, however it's not the way a lot of people vote!
