I have a Panasonic Viera plasma which i bought in July 2005. It has three scart sockets AV1, AV2 and AV4 plus component and HDMI at the rear. I have a recently bought a SONY RDR-HXD 995 HDD recorder and i have a SKY Freesat box. Could somone please advise me on the correct way to connect this all up so i may record either/or and watch either/or Sky Channels or analogue channels. In my area i can only receive BBC1, BBC2, ITV and channel 4 on analogue and no Freeview is available until year 2012.

Many thanks.

Geoff.

Sky TV scart to tv AV 1

Sky VCR scart to Line 1 on DVD recorder

to record simply select Line 1 on DVD and RECORD

However you will not get RGB recording from Sky box, and you will have to decide if you want the telly ' wife proof ' or not

this is the easiet way

you may want to upgrade to sky =, so you can record one watch another... as your limited to what you can watch

you could also try freesat + from BBC/ ITV, but whatever you choose you will need a second cable to dish...................... and then put the old box in another room?

I know you are a frequent poster on here giving helpful advice but you might want to take time and read/edit your posts.
I know you meant "+" instead of "=" but a newbie might not.

Many thanks for the reply Niall. I'm divorced so no wife also, i'm considering buying a Freesat HD box in the future (not Sky) when more HD content becomes available. Thanks again.

Geoff.
