I said on another forum that calling (from a BT landline) Sky is 8p inc VAT per min during the day as it' s 0870. ( I think it's actually a fraction under 8p).
Someone else has said it's 6p and that's including VAT.

I'm sure I read on here it's 8p.

I go to the BT website and am more confused after reading it.

Can I have a definitive answer ????

Thanks.

I'm not sure, but I think sky now have an 0844/0845 number. I can never remember it though, because I have the old 0870 stuck in my head.

Sky has changed to 0844 numbers and, although the cost of those can be 0.5p, 1p, 2p, 3p, 4p or 5p per minute to call (depending on the 5th, 6th and 7th digits) from a BT landline, Sky (why am I not susprised?) chose 5p/minute numbers. Although such calls are not charged if you are on Sky Talk, the cost from a standard BT landline is 7p connection plus 5p/minute.

BT reduced its charges for calling 0845 and 0870 numbers on 1-8-2007 when it also abolished its separate weekend rates for such calls and introduced two-tier (day/night, 7 days a week) charging - see HERE.

Sky's charges for calling non-Sky 0845 and 0870 numbers are dramatically higher - see HERE.

OK thanks I thought Sky still used 0870 when customers phone them.

On that SkyUser link the thread says

0870
.................................. DAY ...... EVE/Night
BT*-7p connection + 06p/min.-------1½p/min.

Is this excluding VAT cos if it is my 8p per min inc VAT is about right is it not ?

No, all prices on that link to one of my MSE posts include VAT (I've just amended it to clarify that)

Check this link out - often you can find a geographical or a free (0800) number to call companies on. Perfect!
