Poor Bren .....do you think we should organise a whip-round?

Would anyone like him to go on strike?

30k is more then I get!!!

But it is poor compared to the judges (who do sod all to be honest) andBruce/Tess. But remember it is more then the celeb gets.

And the dancer can quit if they want. As the BBC know there are plenty more fish in the sea.

Hes digging his own grave IMO.

Nicole complained about the salary as well after she was sacked. It is a bit unfair how little they get paid. 30k seems a lot but bills are so much that it really isn't!! Tess gets paid something like 150k for saying scores please!! xxx

Shockingly I think Tess gets £250k

In relation to what Tess,Bruce and the waste of space judges get it is not a lot.

How much does he think he should be on then? I agree the salaries do appear to be overinflated for the likes of Tess and the judges but he signed the contract and ultimately he has the choice as to whether he wants to do the show or not. From his appearance on Strictly he has more exposure than he would ever have had. I'm sure Strictly has opened the door to many other opportunities for him too.

In that article they write "One day one of the top dancers will walk off mid-season leaving the show in chaos"

Good luck finding a good job after that, nothing increases one's credibility as something as unprofessional as that.

Anton and some of the otehrs have also complained. Anton quite strongly. I think its not so much the dancers get a pittance more that the judges are ridiculously overpaid and I won't say a word about Tess because I might be rude and that wouldn't do.

Bruce however deserves all he gets. He is a national institution.

this is old news - it was reported a few weeks ago

When you compare the amount of money with Bruce, Tess and the judges get, it is a pittance. But Strictly has opened many doors for the dancers and I do think that blabbing to the papers isn't going to help the dancers' cause much.

I bet there are crew members on the show who earn a lot less and work just as hard if not harder. If its so badly paid, then go and get another job. This opportunity wasn't available when he started his career and they are all quite lucky really - there must be a lot of professional dancers who have to hold down second jobs. In any case he will be able to afford a house soon, with prices dropping.

I'm pretty sure this is all Cherie's fault

I never really liked this man anyway but why should he think he deserves more than 30k and let us remember for only 4-5 months work a year ! that is the equivelant of over £60k a year. Why would us joe public who earn a lot less have any sympathy ?? Get a life Brendan and go get a job that pays more than. Why does being a professional dancer mean you should get paid more than a Policeman or nurse or teacher ? where do these arrogant people get off ? You are not a premiership footballer my old mucker. If you dont like it dont bother turning up next year but you know what it is good for his career and he will be there, we all know that.

The judges do contribute much more as individuals than any of the individual dancers when it comes to what is shown on television. I'm guessing it is that which makes up the 'value' and therefor how much anyone gets paid.

I'm not really supporting Brendan here. For 3-4 months work £30K is a lot of money. I know they have to work damned hard for it but heck - I work damned hard and I don't make that in a year.

He really needs to take a reality check. We are in a time of recession when many people are cutting back on their luxuries (and in some cases non-luxuries). It really isn't a good time to be complaining about a wage most people would love.

For that matter I used to live in London (Twickenham) earn £30K a year and I could afford a morgage and a car. And it wasn't that long ago either! So he is obviously spending his money on something else!

Do they get more for doing the SCD tour? Thats more months work from the show.

It is a stupid salary compared with Bruce, Tess and the judges. Admittedly it's more than a hell of a lot of people get but they work really hard for one of the most successful shows on the BBC so you can see why they'd expect to be treated better.

Brendan also omits the mention the money he gets from teaching dance, personal appearances, magazine features and from judging Dancing with the Stars and The Underdog Show. I never really liked the guy much and the more I see of him, the more he goes down in my estimation.

I think its a stupid article, its brought up every now and again with a different pro complaining about the salary. It is silly compared to what Tess earns and I personally think its silly compared to what the judges earn aswell (I kinda understand Bruce). But Brendan isn't the only person to complain about it.

It's not that dancers or celebs pay should be increased in line with the likes of Judges, Bruce and Tess it's that what the Judges, Bruce and Tess are paid should be brought down. They are vastly overpaid for what they do.

When you look at what emergency services like Ambulance and Firemen / women are paid tv people are not worth the money.

I think you'll probably find that's her fault too... The woman's a liability.

SCD reaches 9 million viewers on 14 Saturdays. A really personable pro dancer who fires the public imagination could one day be hired for TV commercials with a payoff in 6 figures?

Can anyone describe what a power of good winning SCD5 has done to performer Alesha? Mark Ramps does not have made much out of his win though? Darren, Natasha and Jill, what happened to their careers? If Cherie wins SCD6 she will engage the attention of Hollywood moguls.

As for pro dancers, their poor pay needs to be seen in the context of Liverpool Festival of Dance contestants, who win gold medals plus peanuts and bananas. It's supply and demand, with many pro dancers eager to accept less to get on SCD, while others will not touch it with a barge pole.

Hmmm, but you could say that about any industry - the people on the shop floor work just as hard as the bosses, for far less money. Instead of looking at what he isn't getting he should remember what he could be getting without SCD - would he be invited to premiers and launch parties if he was Brendan the Ballroom Bloke, rather than The Stroppy One From STrictly.

I agree that the judges and definately the presenters are over-paid, but that is not the issue - Brendan (and the other dancers) were not in a position to ask for that sort of money and I presume when he was first offered SCD he broke the agent's hand to get to the pen.

You aint that special that you cannot be replaced.

This show relies heavily on the pro's to deliver quality entertainment on a weekly basis and it's because they do this show is so successful. The Beeb should recognise that.

I don't see what's wrong with them being paid fairly when they give so much to the show. Good for Brendan for raising this issue, which is not just a problem for him but for all the pro dancers. The judges and presenters are merely voices. Why should they get such huge salaries when the ones sweating and toiling on a daily basis to provide the entertainment are just about scraping by ??

The dancers are the grafters and they should be looked after and paid adequately imo.

Personally, I'd sack Tess for a start That's a quarter mill up for grabs.
SHOCKING money she's being paid just to pout and flirt with the viewers.
