After reading about his chaos with Russell Brand on Radio 2. If he had took part in Stricly this year, Would he have been disqualifed by now. I think he would and if he won, I think he may be stripped of the title. It wasen't a nice thing to do to Andrew Sachs' grandaughter.

And there was me thinking that the SCD forum was one of the few places of refuge from the mad proliferation of these threads discussing RB/RR

I thought it was Brand, not Woss who "did it" - and surely Andrew Sachs' granddaughter is the best judge of whether it was nice or not.

Why would they get rid of Ross - it was clearly Cherie what made em do it

And while we're at it, let's take away his driving licence and strip him of his OBE...

...and his cycling proficiency certificate.

And the award for 'Most Hypothetical Question Ever' goes to........

Having listened to the footage it was Woss who started it and Brand who was initially a bit embarrassed, but did carry the joke way further than it probably should have gone.

I dunno, I guess it's an interesting point - as he's been suspended from appearances on the BBC, could they have pulled him out of the contest?

No.

Brucie would have beaten him to death with a glitterball before now, shouting 'I'll show you doddery!'

Let's just hope Bruce stops making comments about him on SCD in future!

I'm sure this story will be Bruce's opening joke .

Well I think the behaviour of Ross and Brand was appalling - but that did make me laugh.

I do hope not - the less said about it the better IMO.

I too hope not - it would make the tasteless Madonna joke look mild in comparison.

I think the banter between him and Brucie would be great.

It's the most ridiculous overreaction - how many of those 18000 people who complained actually heard the messages? Probably about 10.

These people need to get over themselves.

I don't think he would even have got this far in the comp.

I think as it has been in the papers and on the news a tidy few more than 10 have seen it.

I think it is an dreadful indictment of the state of our society that someone actually thinks the complaints are an 'overreaction'.

With media the way it is these days it's very easy to hear a live radio broadcast after the event.

Personally I can totally see why the BBC had to react - if they did that in any other work place they'd be in trouble.

I can't see how some answer machine messages warrant 18000 complaints

That to me is an overreaction. They didn't do anyone any harm - at most they embarrassed Sachs and his granddaughter a bit. It was obvious that it was a joke anyway.

I reckon most of the complaints were from people who either had nothing else to do or who were eager to jump on the bandwagon.

2 complaints were made during the 7 days after broadcast. Both related to the use of the "f" word, not about Mr. Sachs.

On the 8th day after broadcast the papers picked up the story - led by the bastion of accurate and unbiased reporting, the Mail on Sunday. In the 3 (4?) days since then the number of complaints has risen to 10,000+

In the meantime the "lady" in question has retained the services of Max Clifford.

I too think the whole affair is an indictment of the state of British society, but for very different reasons to you.

Isn't making obscene phone calls illegal?

I don't call this an over-reaction. I call it karma.

Ross & Brand are two very smug, over-rated, over-paid, crude individuals who think they can get away with murder.

I would find their dismissal far more amusing than their prank.

I despise the Mail and Max Clifford but I think it was an awful thing to do to both Andrew Sachs and his grandaughter and they both needed to have their wrists slapped for it. The lady in question used to be a mate of Brand's but has now ended the friendship - I think that says what she thinks although she is flogging her story to the papers and it is probably brilliant publicity for her.

Personally can't bear either of them , untalented and grossly overpaid . No one is worth £6m a year for about 3 shows and the odd appearance .
All Mr Ross does on his shows is look for laughs by using bad language , poking fun at his guests and any one else he cares to , and mostly talk about himself .

But I appreciate many do like them .

Having studied comedy in depth , I am aware of it's finer nuances and the close affinity it has to tragedy ( last Episode of Blackadder is a case in point ) and indeed it's essential cathartic nature ; my personal preference is not for humour which sets out to embarrass or to ridicule someoene who is not able , for whatever reason , to answer back .

If either were to be on SCD I would switch off . I guess both would have much support , and I can see JR taking it relatively seriously ,though I would like to see him given a taste of his own medicine by the acerbic Craig
