that you can dump all your dvds/cds onto (ie some form of dvd player) so you can watch your entire collection without having to go to the shelf to choose a dvd/cd?
I thought i saw something of the sort on the gadget show (maybe a media PC or something) but wondered if any are available.
Im supposing the pronblem is the copyright of copying the disks onto some form of hardware.
Would be something id want to purchase.
Any ideas?

A media pc is the way forward. I have one, and you can pick up a good 'un for about £500-700 depending on your budget.

Mine has in it Quad Core 2.8ghz (x4), 4gb RAM, 1tb HDD, decent graphics card (forget the make and model ) with HDMI output, Blu-Ray / HD DVD drive, TOSLINK digital output to the amp, tv card with Freeview and satellite, Windows Vista Ultimate. Bluetooth keyboard and moose, and wi-fi. I also have an external 1gb HDD for storing movies on there and is nearly full.

There is a feature within Windows Media Centre on Vista "DVD Library" but needs activating via a quick edit in the registry. This will give you all your movies in one place. Rather embarassing for the missus, my 4yr old daughter knows where her films are kept too.

A cracking piece of kit, and well recommended. I paid £560 for mine of e-bay and was 10 days old (was 2nd hand). Now I've tinkered with it, it's fantastic. I haven't tried any Blu-Ray movies yet, but I have a couple waiting for me tonight from Tesco DVD Rental to try out

God no.

Those things are awful.

One of my mates dads is a fan of them and they jam CONSTANTLY. I wouldn't touch one with a bargepole.

Media PC all the way.

One of my customers has a Sony multi-disc DVD/CD changer sitting redundant at the mo. He asked if I could sell it for him but I said I didn't think I'd have the time so I really didn't pay that much attention to it.

If you are interested I could make some inquiries.
