I don't know much about this but is it worth getting a blu ray player for a 720p screen (32 inch panasonic in my case)? I think I'd like the improvement in picture quality, but am not sure if it's worth it without a 1080p screen.

It would certainly look better than a standard dvd thats for sure

I have a PS3 running through a PJ on an 84" screen and the images are simply fantastic. On a 32" sat at the right distance they will look excellent.

BluRay would be absolutely stunning, is your set actually 720, or is it (the more normal) 768 pixels?.
The difference between 768 and 1080 is really pretty slight, and dependent upon viewing really close.

True but a new 1080P set that supports 24fps(1080P 24) makes a hell of a difference if that judder anoys you!
my father has a blue ray on a 720 screen and it looks great apart from that judder

I don't know about 720 TV's but the 720 PJ I have accepts 1080 24fps from the PS3 - no judder.
