Now that Strictly won at the NTA Awards
Will Simon refresh X Factor next year? Make it different in some way?
I don't think it should, this years X Factor has been one of the best series to date, if not the best. And its always beating Strictly in the ratings (well i think always anyway) |

Not for an NTA award! The ratings are what make these decisions, and the current series is the number one Saturday show on TV for the first time since 2005, has been the number one show on all TV for most of the past 2 months and by far the number one show on TV for the key demographic of viewers aged 16-34.
But he always makes changes, so you never know. |

I think this has given Simon a kick up the arse. Next year he needs to strip it of all the gimicks and the sob stories, and focus on the music not the money. Lol, that wont happen!

It was definatly a big shock for both shows wasn't it? SCD didn't expect to win and Simon just assumed one of his shows would. He has got far to complacent. The show is stale and not as fun as it used to be.
I think SCD won on the strength of last year when it was superb and always blew x facotr out of the water in terms of entertainment. I still find it more enjoyable to be honest as I feel the x factor is lacking something, maybe fun? Or maybe its time to bring back Mrs O? |

![]() BUT SCD beats X-Factor in terms of viewing figures if you include the results shows. So I suppose the winner tonight is actually the most watched show ![]() So far, 11 XF and SCD shows have aired since the start of SCD. X Factor has won 8 to SCD's 3. SCD Saturday Average: 8.52m XF Saturday Main Show Average: 9.45m SCD Sunday Average: 8.48m XF Results Shows (Sat/Sun): 8.42m Highest XF Audience: 10.4m Highest SCD Audience: 9.7m |

This would actually be the first week that SCD was the most watched show of the weekend, despite losing on Saturday, its Sunday results show was just ahead. (Although in share terms, X Factor was #1).

Simon cares about money, not Micky Mouse awards.
As long as the ratings remain as high as they are and the money keeps rolling in, I doubt Cowell will be having any restless nights on his gold plated mattress about the NTAs. |

Hayfever mentioned that SCD is the most watched show, I was merely posting some easily available figures to show that isn't actually the case. |

Hayfever bought up ratings in support of SCD, not C14E.

Exactly as proven tonight. But also SCD is now outperforming X-Factor in the viewing figures as well over the weekend
This poster I think works for SC PR ![]() ![]() Seriously - SCD will no doubt out perform X factor over the weekend. Which show'll perform better? One aired at quarter to 10 on a Saturday evening, or one at quarter past 7? Obviously the former. There's no even footing for the results show, so it's slightly unfair to go comparing them. There's even footing for the main show and they air around the same time frame, so it's easier to read and assess. Before I get my head bitten off, I like both shows. Check my post history to prove it if you wish. But I think Results show ratings are an uneven way of working out which programme is watched more. As for quality...I think SCD was miles better last year, and The X Factor is better this year - but that's down to personal opinion. ![]() EDIT: Apologies to Hayfever - I missed the original post. You didn't bring it up.

Well to be honest i don't care about ratings!
Coronation Street is the most watched show on UK TV. Does that mean its the best show on uk tv? Probably not. I love Corrie, but it has ups and downs like all shows and there have been times recetly when its been shown up by the other soaps. I think a lot more people watch SCD than let on. Its not seen as 'cool' and 'trendy' like the x factor but I think a lot of people enjoy it beacuse they secrectly wish they could dance like that or learn to do so. |

![]() But as C14E pointed out, the ratings are what will dictate whether any changes are implemented, not an award that was overshadowed by Cowell's special recognition award anyway... |

You've got to remember this NTA was based on SCD5 and XF4. And SCD5 was much more superior to XF4!

Yes. Very convenient that award wasn't it? Especially after loosing out in a category he assumed he would win

TBH the awards as a whole attracted a million votes according to McDonald, and the talent show category only a percentage of that, so it doesn't really prove anything other than SCD got the most votes on the night. I'd have liked to have seen the votes prior to the lines opening tonight though - methinks Strictly may not have always had the upper hand. |

Nobody is doubting SCD's popularity - and clearly a lot of people love it because it won an award tonight. But you only had to listen to the audience who gave The X Factor the biggest cheer in the auditorium tonight to realise how popular the show is.
It is possible to watch both shows you know? I don't get all the bitterness from some over the 'ratings war'. They don't clash very often anymore anyway. |
