Well that'll work won't it...

In the 90 seconds allotted to them to promote the show? How many couples were they going to get in?!

Can someone clarify for me, as I didn't see the awards.

Was it Austin and Erin who were chosen to go up on stage to accept the award or did they actually do a dance?
Was it Austin and Erin predominantly on the video footage?

Since its a competition still, I don't think any of the celebs for this year should have gone on the stage. I think since Alesha and Matt are current champions (and such fab dancers) it was very appropriate for them to be doing the dancing. The judges and pro dancers are celebs in their own right - they had plenty to chose from to accept the award without involving the celebs.

If for whatever reason (maybe they were the only ones prepared to do a dance) Austin and Erin were the ones to do a dance, I can accept it although I still think its unfair. But the VT should have involved all the celebs equally - and there is no reason why it shouldn't have done.

As many as they wanted ...but obviously "they" only wanted A&E in the VT.

It's unfair. I would have rather seen the pros do a brief dance, even if it was only a minute or so. Why should Austin have been singled out to dance?

You should ask the producers of the NTA, surely?

Unless we have proof that Austin pimps himself for the presenting segment, so if then by all means skin him alive.

Austin was presenting an award and did a little dance with Erin before the winner was announced.

The show was live, so Erin coming out to dance with Austin was a surprise for him and the audience.

Did I say something wrong? Actually I'm not sure I agree with what you have said - wasn't Austin wearing a tail coat?

Oh no, I don't blame Austin at all! If anyone, I blame the producers.

Earler in the evening vid was shown of all prog up for an award (in the category SCD was in)........at that point the VT included a few couples (including last yrs winners).

A&E do a dance before they present an award.

Before Paris Hilton announces winner a VT is shown with JUST A&E in dancing the Jive.

A&E do not go up to receive the award.......only dancers that go up in the group are Matt and Alesha.

Tess mentions Austins' "guns" in her acceptance speech which he is obviously getting a bit embarassed about now.

Someone correct me if any of this is wrong

Oh please, (dont take this the wrong way..) do you really think that it was an impromptu dance? Im sure they must have done lots of practice for that only!!

Yes - and as last year's winners, Alesha and Matt (who were not my favourites - so no axe grinding there) would be entirely justified if they were miffed about being hauled onto the stage, stood at the back behind a load of unrecognisables, and made to listen to Tess going on about 'guns' - again.

It was the Austin show.

I don't think it will change viewing figures, or votes cast. It was just a slap in the face for all the other contestants this year, and A & M from last year.

You'd almost think ITV/NTA had organised a SCD-gate.

No not wrong - but have you timed the sequences?

I suspect Austin received more airtime than all the rest put together?

This is surely a storm in a teacup! Does it really matter who danced at the award ceremony? I did see the show and I can't say that I thought anything of Austin and Erin performing. Certainly do not think it was set up by the BBC as Austin's the one they want to win. Good grief some people see conspiracy everywhere.

Shocked at the bias that was shown. He is starting to appear cocky to me anyway but there is no way he should have been singled out like this when there are still others in the competition..
So pleased that the show won the award though.

This thread sounds like a lot of little schoolchildred all saying 'it's not fair'.

Some of you need to grow up.

Actually I think Austin has got off quite lightly on these boards considering how he was singled out at the NTA. Cannot imagine the furore if it had been someone like Cherie, or even Bunton in a previous series.

Thanks for that fairy girl. Not that bothered about them doing a dance - and glad it wasn't them that received the award - that would have been too much.

However, I think the VT should have shown all the celebs - and I don't think it was right to only have shown A&E - there is no reason for them to do that? - especially if Austin and Erin were doing the dance on stage as well....you'd think they'd have shown a selection.

As much as I haven't warmed to Austin (too much on the cocky/cheeky side for me to make him my favourite) I don't blame him for this of course - but wonder why they singled him out so much on the video if they were already chosen to do the dance on stage as well?

Publicity can't have been that wonderful for Austin, as I don't know anyone who knew he was on the nta show - and those of us who knew the show was on, kept switched firmly on a different station.

However, was it fair? Possibly not, but who knows how they were chosen? They - nta peeps - might have asked for volunteers or they might have had their names drawn from the hat! Or they could have felt confident that he would deliver a decent dance whereas some of the others might not have been so reliable - Mark, Heather, Andrew, John for example?

And maybe it should have been Matt & Alesha, but perhaps she wasn't available, or didn't want to do it? Either way, I don't see why anyone should stop liking Austin because he was on the show.

Haven't seen it, but here's my tuppence-worth .....

Since the awards had nothing to do with the BBC, I can't see how they engineered such bias/favouritism/whatever. I assume they wanted a representative from the show to present and as the highest scorer of last week's series, that would have been Austin & Erin ..... had the awards taken place a week ago, it would probably have been Lisa & Brendan - just imagine the furore THAT would have caused on this forum

As SCD 5 was nominated for an award, I'm sure had Alesha been on twice, THAT would have been misconstrued as well

Some people just need to get a life and stop overanalysing

Very true, of course, but wouldn't the forums be dull without the 'over-alayzing' and conspiracy theories!! lol

Well said, its pathetic how some people are interpreting this. People should be pleased at how well they represented the show. Wish i could say im surprised by peoples reaction but i was waiting for people to turn on Austin. Poor fella, he is a great guy, doing fantasticly well.
