Has Leona sold out England for America?
Does ne1 else think that Leona has sold out?
Personally, i do like Leona but it really annoys me that as soon as she made it big in America, she seems 2 have forgotton about England, the country that made her what she is.The quote "don't bite the hand that feeds you" comes to mind. I feel that now her priority is to always constantly promote herself in America, only to come to England when she has a single to promote. Just recently she snubbed the mobos to stay in America and performs concerts over there.I know she has to obviously fulfil her commitments such as concerts in America but does ne1 else think she has sold out? |

I don't think she has. She seems pretty grounded and down to earth, when I have seen her interviewed and stuff. I think, like anyone, she wants to be as successful as possible and reach as big an audience as possible. If America is offering glamour, fame and money, anyone would take it, wouldn't they? I don't think it's about selling out, really. She's doing really well for herself and achieving what many artists from the UK have tried and failed to do so good on her, I say.

I don't see anything wrong with her trying to be successful elsewhere, but I do feel a bit forgotten. Why no concerts in England? She hasn't toured over here yet and that seems wrong. I wish her well but I'd like to see her doing more stuff over here, just some times.

I think the danger is that the GBP could perceive this to be the case - therefore interesting the OP brought it up. I think going to the US for so long was going to be the case as soon as Clive Davis was involved and Simon wants a world superstar in his stable.

Not at all...
She has publically said she's really happy to come home and be back here meeting her fans, enjoying home things such as Eastenders, seeing all her family etc. She's doing loads of appearances such as at the opening of Westfield in London today, and she was on the lottery last night and will be on GMTV tomorrow... She's back in the UK pretty much solidly bar a few dates I think until Christmas... |

No. She's just become a very successful international artist (4th biggest selling in the world this year according to a press release) and so has a different kind of career to previous reality show winners.
I think the point QM makes is the key one. She is being promoted as a worldwide star, not just an UK or American one. She has not just been in the US this year, but in Europe, Australia and Asia and is constantly travelling between all of these continents. Sony have clearly decided that they believe she has global potential and so her appearance schedule is like that of other similar stars. England is still her home though and she spends a lot of time here in between trips, but she is a private person so does not get a lot of media coverage unless she is promoting something. |

Yes how dare she try to be successful in another country.
OP, do you like any American artist? If so then chances are, they have promoted in the UK for some time. If you are OK with them doing that, don't complain when it happens the other way around. |

I don't understand the singling out of America. Leona has been performing in loads of different countries throughout the year but obviously in America there's the most buzz as she's signed to Clive Davis who's an American.

I dont think shes sold out. But syco have definately dropped the ball with her in the UK. But that is NOT leonas fault its syco's. They are crap and i worry about other xfactor winner, contestants.
They could have released a single in the summer easily, but they decided to release nothing until now and release forgive me with out much promotion and after it being on radio for over a month! I dont think shes just concentrating on the US, like natasha or joss stone did. Shes concentrating 'worldwide' shes in the EU etc just as much as shes in the states. But i would agree that they have dropped the ball in the UK. Worldwide and uS shes singed to j-records and SBMG. UK shes signed to syco. |

Didn't she recently do a show in New York - not just one or 2 songs but a full show - shame NY took priority over London or the UK.

She had a fantastic opportunity to make it in the U.S so naturally she took it.
It's not about which country she loves, it's about work. |

Considering she just did a 5 song set today in LONDON, no I don't think she has sold out. How ridiculous that as soon as someone is successful somewhere internationally, people claim they have "abandoned" the UK. The world does exist outside here you know. She's dividing her time between the countries.

It was a 6 song set. So 1 more song than today. She is not gonna do a full length show/concert until after the 2nd album.
