Was BB1 The Best?

Some people think that BB1 was the best and since then it has all been downhill. Apart from BB4 I disagree, what does everyone else think?

To refresh your memories here's a list of the HM's and an archive summary of what happened.

Sada Walkington
Andy Davidson
Caroline O'Shea
'Nasty Nick' Bateman (Booted out for cheating)
Nichola Holt
Tom McDermott
Claire Strutton (The replacement for Nick)
Melanie Hill

Darren Ramsay
Anna Nolan
Craig Phillips (The winner of BB1)

BB1 Summary

The main character and star of the show was Nick, supported by Mel and her flirting, Tom's erection in his red shorts, Anna's sense of humour and the novelty act was Nichola, with her body painting.
I can't remember the rest of them being rivetting viewing, they were basically wallpaper.

No .... it was second best, after BB3. So there. In any case Anna should have won not that dullard.

I agree with you Eejay, I think BB3 was the best. I'm just curious as to why anyone would think BB1 was the best.

I thought BB3 was the best too, it was just more lively than the other's, plus what made it good was that I liked about half the hm's and disliked the other half, even if they hadn't had the divide there was lots of friction in the BB3 house, with BB1 and 2 I found most of them likeable but also a bit dull, having said that the only BB's I haven't enjoyed so far are BB4 and Celeb BB2. The only thing with BB3 was the fact that they were given just a bit too much booze at times and a few boring tasks.

No way was BB2 & 3 going to be like BB1 anyway, the novelty value had gone, most people went into the house to get tv careers, you were never going to get another BB1, but just because it was the first doesn't mean it was the best. I suppose it's just each to their own, after all a few people think BB4 was the best so far.

That's true, Susann. Thirteen people, to be precise.

yep BB3 was the best by miles-a lot of tough characters willing to go for it all the way-they did not realise what a tabloid storm was up outside.Any of the last 4 would have been deserved winners-you cannot say that about the others.
Apart from the divide -which I thought made it-there was not much outside interference and they were able to get on entertaining themselves (and us).
BB2 was dull most of the time -I quite liked most of BB4 but it lacked the sparks going off now and again.
BB1 I did not see agreat deal of until post -Nick and then not much live-I am not sure it was all that riveting-they just seemed to hate Craig.

They were the most genuine HMs. Largely because they had no way of knowing what the reaction outside of the BB1 House, was likely to be.

BB3 was the one that really drew me in and made me want to sit and watch all day day everyday.
The others I dipped in and out of, but to be honest, they bored me a bit.

I think BB can make you delusional, didn't some of the HM's in BB4, when they were in the house, think that theirs was the most interesting of all the BB's and had no idea of how boring they were?

Def. BB3 was the best, they chose the right mix of people, there was arguments and fun, but maybe it was the rich side poor side that did it, I heard they were not allowed to do that anymore as it was so cruel.

Erm... make that fourteen...

BB1 - didn't grab my interest. Think I only watched the final show.
BB2 - starting watching some highlight shows towards the end.
BB3 - watched more of the highlight shows, but felt I was missing out (a friend with Sky kept pointing out the power of the edit.)
BB4 - Cable installed, bring it on!!

Fortunately, I'd also acquired a PC so was able to log onto the official site (which lasted a couple of weeks) and here. What BB4 lacked on screen was compensated for on the forum.

Maybe not the best, but definitely the one I enjoyed the most!

The thing is that BB works on so many levels.
You can love or hate the HMs the tasks the nominations the rigging the rewards a million things.
BB1 was good as it was original, and you wanted to see what happens on an eviction, what happens with nominations, etc.
BB2 When you saw Bubble you switched off
BB3 had made-for-tv-characters and made you talk about Jade and Sandy and Alex and well I remember all the HMs of 3 better than 1 and I like 1 the best!!
BB4 which was crap BUT that doesn't matter as I had a great time debating it all here and everywhere.

So even if BB4 was crap it had loads to talk about as did all the other BBs. Just making comparisons is fun but I have to say I stopped voting after Endemall rigged it for Jade to stay in over Adele.

BB1 was unique.

It's difficult to compare them all because Maisymoo's right and each series had its own good points.

Except BB4.

Just factually -did they do that?

I know people think the removal of nominations for week 7 was to stop Jade being nominated and voted out but did they fiddle with week 6 voting in some way?

no, but they constantly showed Adele in a bad light - "back-stabbing" "two-faced" etc and had BBLB and the their mates in the gutter press reinforce this message through the week

It was a little ironic that the week that every HM nommed Jade because of her back-stabbing, it was Adele who was portrayed as the main back-stabber

I like it when they back-stab, I think there should be more of it

Probably not great if you are on the end of it though!
That booing seemed to terrify everyone in the house coz it was so unexpected.
Still Adele seems to have recovered well-tough cookie.

i do not think some of the other HM would have coped so well with that.

Generally, I hate the Endemol/C4 manipulation, but I am glad that they kept Jade.

After Alex (miles after admittedly) I thought she was the most entertaining in the house.

And Alex and Jade together were completely wonderful.
