I personally feel that Laura's peaked now. She's an amazing singer but she can't do anything to get better, she'll never raise the game.

A lot of the public don't rank her as their fave, more like a 2nd or 3rd and her sound is very much like quite a few people already in the charts such as Amy Winehouse, Duffy, Adele etc.

'The Sun' story has also hurt a lot, as people havent realised he isn't actually a producer but just owns Applause Store. Many people who watch will still think he's a producer and she has an advantage.

I think she could be this year's "shock" exit, probably when they scrap the judges vote in the second half of the live shows.

I am in no way knocking her as she's hugely talented, I just think she hasn't got the backing, or the unique sparkle to do it plus IMO her voice is already so good it can't get better and the public like to see progression.

She'l struggle get better comments than she did last Saturday, you'd think her odds would have shortened after those comments but if anything they've lengthened, Alex has overtook her as 2nd fav on Betfair

Well, I don't know if you're right or wrong but I reeeeally hope yo're wrong, as I think Laura is the most talented contestent this year. I do however, think that she can and will get better each week and I don't think she has peaked yet. But yes, that article might has hurt her popularity. I hope she isn't the shock exit... She rocks!

I have to say I'm not on the Laura train. I never have been. I think her style of singing changes all over the place throughout each song. And her diction is atrocious!
I can see a good voice in there, but I think she needs more training..

I think she's this years "great" singer who is surviving each week because she's one of the favourites and gives great performances, and not because of a huge fierce fanbase. She can only go down from here, IMO.

She may be better off not winning, as Simon probably wants her to be his Amy Winehouse/Duffy. Laura writes material, so XF just needs to help her get another recording contract with a major.

She started out and people thought she was amazing but now she seems to be peoples second or third favourite because they think "x is my favourite, but I like Laura as well", so only vote for their favourite. They just assume people like Laura will get votes but I think she is going to be the first girl to fall (possibly even including Rachel and Ruth in that) but she'll get signed regardless.

Does anyone think Laura can get a teenbase which is what she'd need to be successful in the singles market or she going to an album only singer

I can see her being like Joss Stone in the sense that she usually would only release albums maybe with 1 or 2 singles first for album promotion...

Apparently she has already taken the number one and number two slots in the metro charts or something with her own original material so she must be pretty popular... I can see her being quirky and original for sure and she must have somewhat a fan base because she is still in the competition but I think it would be an injustice for that voice to not go much further. I for one would be heartbroken... but slightly richer because I'd save vote money, if she were to be voted out!!

I dont think people think shes that popular, who said she is? shes not on here anyway.

But DS doesnt represent the public's population. Everyone ive spoken to has her as one of their faves and shes second fave on facebook.

The fact that ruth was on the bottom two and leon won is proof of that.

As for topping her comments. You could say that about any of diana, alex, or eoghan all have had great comments each week, including world class etc. Laura got a bad comment in week two. Diana hasnt had one yet, so maybe shes peaked.

Im not expecting her to win, i just love her vocie and hope she gets as far as possible so she will get signed and i can have an album!

But did you see laura's comments last week how can she top those, I don't think Diana's peaked until she has all the judges in tears

You dont need a teen fanbase sell singles, you dont even need a fanbase! If you have a really catchy song it will sell. Duffy- mercy, knales barkly- crazy are examples. Fanbase only gets the song so far.

I think Laura will de finish in the top 3 there is no way the judges will vote her out if she is in the bottom 2 if you need evidence look back at the 3 weeks judges comments overall she has had the best comments esp from Simon. I have asked loads a people who they like least and most and Laura and Diana are split however Laura has never been quoted as least liked by anyone but Diana has esp by the over 30's.

I think even if Laura does not win Simon will sign her his loves her his comments to her after each performace have been incredible.

Her diction has annoyed alot of people, maybe its that.

I don't think judges comments mean anything in terms of peaking. Leona literally had the competition handed to her in Week 3 in terms of comments and even Louis said she couldn't peak higher than that but she still went on to win. There's nothing wrong with peaking as long as you keep your performances at a similar standard , which Laura can definetely do.

Nope , Leona was joint second favourite alongside Eton Road until Week 5 , after which she became the favourite.

In terms of odds , Laura is still second favourite on most betting sites and her closest competition is Alexandra who I personally don't think will win.

This year the winner isn't clear cut so the betting odds so early on don't really mean much IMO.

Ok fair point, I'm guessing Ben was fav? But Laura dosen't have the teen base imo, she is a jazz singer and well she's good, teens aren't really into that right now

I agree theres nothing wrong with peaking as you as you keep your performances consistent and great, they dont need all need to be as good, just 'up there'.

However, with laura she hasnt given a wowing performance since 'falling', the last two both had significant problems. Second one- first half was bland, third one- diction was really bad. So even though they both were still good and had really impressive vocals they didnt win her any fans becuase of the problems. She needs to step it up from now otherwise and be more consistent. She also gave more of a performance in 'fallin'.

Although I'm a fan of Laura, I do get the sense that her fan base isn't as big as some might think. Not for any particular reason though.
