Pets and their weird ways

Does anyone else have weird pets ?

Our cat likes to jump in the bath and go sniffing and exploring round it.
He also likes crisps ( a very rare treat ) but won't eat them unless they are hand fed to him one by one. If you simply out some in his food bowl he will not touch them.

My BF and I were discussing this yesterday - we've only had our little kitty for just under 4 months and she already has so many quirks and weird little ways.

She loves to watch us in the bath, in fact that is where her scratching post is so she has something to sit on. She will lick any wet feet that may dangle in her direction!!

She also loves the toilet - she likes to watch us on it ( I have to lock her out after having a wee once and getting tickled by her whiskers ), she loves to watch it being flushed and generally just likes to hang around it

She has a nightly routine of clambering all over me after I go to bed and laying on my chest, I have to have both my hands free and "pretend" to be asleep so she nudges herself with my hands - left hand, then right, then left and so on. She then settles beside me but if I have to get up in the night for a drink then we have to go through the palaver all over again

She loves all of the usual too - climbing on the clothes horse to sleep on the drying washing, climbing up the blinds, getting into any open drawers and cupboards.

She is an absolute delight though and we're both dotty about her

It might be a boxer thing, but Cody and Paul will put their toys on your lap, whine a bit then do some really loud yawns.

If Cody does something silly, she'll look around first to make sure everyone is watchng her.

Paul will flip his bed over alot. He'll nudge the edge of it until its standing vertiacally then paw it until it flops over.

If I walk my dogs in the rain, the greyhound will wind herself around my legs when we get in like a cat to dry off

Our cat loves the loo too ! He enjoys watching people on it, the flush , etc.
He also ( slightly embarassing this ), try and "scratch over" when someone has passed wind !

My dog does a feeding dance at 630 every evening. She sits, looks, jumps in a circle, repeat.

She doesnt really bother with toys except corks - she chases them round for ages before chewing to pieces.

The only other toy she ever bothered with was a plastic rat, but that was more of an obsession. She took it everywhere, she wouldnt go anywhere without it...

Yep, I play 'IT' with one of my goldfish, I tap him gently on the side and then quickly move my finger away, then he chases my finger, nips it then quickly swims off.. and so on...

I've also trained them (ok they trained themsleves! lol) to blow big bubbles for treats! yeah and people think goldfish are daft and only have a few seconds memory!

My cat won't drink water from his own bowl, he enjoys a huge drink from the bathroom sink, or from the dogs bowl!

His brother who passed away loved to suckle on your ear .... I really miss him and his quirky ways

The dog just howls for england!

When my dog was only 8 weeks old, I used to cuddle her on my lap on the sofa while I watched TV. Now she’s 18 months old, she still tries to jump up on my lap but she weighs 30 kilos now and is huge. I can not comfortably watch TV like that but she does not understand and keeps insisting she must sit on my lap. When we have visitors, they must think it is very strange.

Mine isn't content with having his belly ticked or rubbed, he likes to sit, then lift his leg up and have you to scratch his 'armpit'!!! You must do this for as long as he desires and if you dare stop he'll nudge your arm back with his nose, and won't stop until you give in!

Paul's the same, the don't realise that they're far too big do they?

Wouldn't change him for the world though

My dog grabs you with his two front legs if you walk past him when he's laying down, he also stamps his feet if you ignore him.

My cat will creep up behind you on the sofa etc and then start playing with your hair.

It's like having a weird head massage but i have lots of layers in my hair so it looks like i've been dragged through a hedge afterwards

She also follows my son around the room and keeps nudging him. He'll move to another sofa/chair and she still follows him. Oddly enough after he's moved about 4 times, she gives up lol. ! He's only 4 so he doesn't get that she just wants a fuss.

Hansel sits up like a human if joining us on the Sofa. Cute, but is it good for his back???? He has doggy companions, was raised in a 'pack' of dogs, so not sure why he does this.

One cat plays fetch with me, and brings me presents of random things she's found around the house (pens, little ornaments.. once she found a razor and bought me it )

The other dunks her toys in the water bowl, have no idea why!

we have two rats, pepper and verity, who just love to chase the toilet roll around the house. They have pretty much free reign for an hour or two before bed each night to go where they please, and they alwayls go to the bathroom, climb up the radiator and knock off the toilet roll!

Also pepper, when walking up/down our arms constantly licks - i presume for the taste of salt in the skin, but none of the others we have had do it!

My Setter Rio "steals" toys from my mum's room and drops them on the stairs... always the same ones... and orange wooly mammoth and a little McDonald's lion She likes laying on the third step at the top of the stairs.

My cat Princess adores boxes; doesn't matter which size, she'll try and get in it!

My cat adores crisps ... esp salt and vinegar! (so half the packet goes to her instead of me!) she teases the dog even though she knows he is bigger and louder than she is and she always comes out and greets us at the door but refuses to go back through the cat flap when we're watching!

One of my cats, Chassis, steals from people's houses and balconies, it's really embarrassing. She brings really large things too, she brought us a bath towel once and is always bringing socks and slippers and children's toys.
When some neighbours were moving in, there were various boxes outside waiting to be carried in and she stole a CD from them, I had to sneak it back into the box ! Watching her bring a skipping rope over the wall one afternoon, we were amazed at her tenacity as it kept getting snagged, but she loosened it over and over until she could bring it to us.
Needless to say, we get the "ordinary" stuff too - mice, lizards, birds, snakes, voles etc.............

I was going to say try this with a 6 year old boxer, but Zoe beat me to it!!!! Something else he likes to do, as with all dogs, hates when you blow in his face, take him out for a walk, over a small brow of a hill, wind full pelt in his face, stands there for ages, tabs flapping in the wind!!!!

I have a year old burmese male cat and a 7 month male Tonkinese kitten. Since we got the kitten, he constantly suckles off the older cat. The worst bit is that it is really loud and they sleep on our bed at nights so you can be lying there and hear this really loud 'slurp, slurp'. We cannot get him to stop. The burmese would bite and hold a piece of his fur when Ching is doing this but other than that, doesn't seem to mind!

My kitty turns the kitchen tap on and drinks that. She then turns the tap off - clever kitty

My Psycho does that too - but I always look like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards so you wouldn't really notice

Aw bless! Psycho brought be back some brussel sprouts that I'd thrown out for the birds - he looked so proud of himself for getting me such a lovely, stinky gift My kit brought me in some leaves yesterday and put them on my face when I was asleep

Just now I caught Psych dipping his paw into my mug and having a quick slurp of a brew
