I had an operation on my right hand and probably won't be out of the cast for two months, so for the first time in my life, I won't be able to make my own stuffing at Christmas and will have to make do with the packet stuff.

Which is the best onion and sage packet gravy, please? Or are they all awful? I've never tasted any before.

I love Paxo ... I made my own stuffing once and didn't like it half so much. I was bought up on it so maybe some of it's nostalgia.

I would buy ready made onion gravy in jar, which is more like fresh, rather than buy a packet.

You can get some nice varieties of stuffing now, why not get a couple of different ones, that way it will still be special

For a really different stuffing (with the minimum amount of fuss and effort), take a pack of Sage and Onion Paxo, Boil up half a cup of Long Grain and Wild Rice, Skin 3 Pork and Leek sausages and chop up some Dried Apriots.

Make up the Paxo according to the packet instructions, fork in the sausages then mix in the cooked rice and chopped Apricot.

I know this sounds a little bizarre, but it really works and tastes lovely!!

Think Paxo also do "luxury" varieties now too, had a lemon and thyme one recently that was quite nice.

M&S do a decent stuffing (sage & onion, although they do other varieties?) I always use that if I am cheating!!
