Does anyone reading this have the Asda PAYG tarrif?

It seems too good to be true.
8p to all networks and 4p texts.

This is a very good tarrif but it just seems too good....what are the catches?

There are no catches - what you see is what you get.

They don't do bundles or packages but it's by far the cheapest PAYG deal around. I was using them before I had a contract - they use the Vodafone network so as long as you get a good signal, you're on to a winner. They don't even use Indian callcentres! OK they use Scottish ones but as long as you can understand the accent then it's all good

Data useage is 20p per MB.

The only catch is that you need to make sure that the tariff suits you. Check how much your use will cost and compare it with a bundle or package on other networks.

There is a catch.

£10 will buy you:

Asda - Just...
125 minutes
OR
250 Texts

Whereas...

Orange - Dolphin
50 minutes
OR
100 Texts + 300 texts for 1 month
OR
50 hours to any 3 Orange numbers

Orange - Racoon
50 minutes + 120 off-peak minutes for 1 month
OR
100 Texts
OR
50 hours to any 3 Orange numbers

I've chosen Orange as an example. Asda's a no-thrills option. Every other network has little perks aimed at whatever type of phone user you may be. Asda's just big on general useage.

Exactly, depending on how you use your phone ASDA could work out much more expensive or much cheaper, so it would be best to shop around.

You actually mean the Canary tarrif where you say Racoon, to avoid any confusion.

The Racoon tarrif would give you 66.6 minutes or 100 texts - but nothing as a bonus. It just has the cheaper flat rate of 15p per minute compared to the 20p per minute of the other Orange tarrifs.
