It should depend on the dance. (Ha!) In theory, John's foxtrot should be significantly better than Andrew's samba and if that is the case on the night then John should stay. Neither John nor Andrew have shown tremendous skills to say the least (although Andrew did show improvement last week.) Their scores overall haven't been too dissimilar either. The judges couldn't really justify keeping Andrew over John if John's dance was better as the potential argument doesn't really work here although it would with any of the others (even though that's not how it's supposed to work). However, I think the point about not wanting to lose better dancers and getting rid of John while they have the chance is very possible. I guess the judges have to hope that there isn't too much disparity between John and Andrew's dances on the night.

Of course, this all pre-supposes a John/Andrew bottom two which isn't all that likely. I think Andrew/Heather is more possible.

I'll shut up now.

True, and Andrew's samba looks potentially woeful - Ola did look resigned to going yesterday on ITT - I'm having flashbacks to Peter S and his samba

No need to shut up tabithakitten because you are right in what you say. In the real world over the next two weeks both John and Andrew should go but we all know what happens on strictly and up to now we haven't really had a massive shock as we have had in other years. Tonight might be the night - you never know.

If they do end up there together I think Andrew is at a disadvantage with this week's dance. Mind you I wouldn't be surprised if John does a respectable foxtrot and doesn't end up there at all.

I can't believe this really is such a hot topic - IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A JOKE! ”

I was only kidding about it!

But at least Peter's samba was funny in a good way

I knew that things mustn't be going well when Ola described their dance as 'entertaining' - that seems to be secret SCD code for 'we hope you get a good laugh out of how rubbish this looks and vote for us anyway'....

I thought that too. Ola tends to put things in that she will think are entertaining but get vilified by the judges. I feel sorry for Andrew really because I don't think he has had good teaching and Ola being so much shorter does not help.

I disagree - last week his woeful paso got a 6 from 3 of the judges - only Craig marked it with any measure of critical accuracy. The remarks of the judges have never verged on the insulting (not that I would wish insults on anyone) - but they have concentrated on the charming and amusing etc.

I think the judges love John - as a person. They just recognise the fact he can't dance!! His paso last week was nothing short of a send-up.

I'm really looking forward to tonight's show too!

It'll be exciting to see so many different dances, and therefore interesting to see how they mark them all

I'm really looking forward to tonight, I think we have several potentially really good dances in store and perhaps the first ten in the offing.

As regards who will go, I'm torn between Andrew and John. If they're in the dance off together I think it could be fifty fifty. John has been hugely entertaining, and I love the twinkle in his eye and the (much needed) humour he brings. However, a la Garraway last year, I think he's had a good run and honour has been satisfied that he's got this far. It would be a shame for anyone else to go in his place.

The only possible exception to that could be Andrew. I have a nasty feeling his Samba will be a bit 'car crash', but with less entertainment factor that Peter Smeichel's. Andrew is a thouroughly likeable guy, but I never have quite got the pairing with Ola. And let's face it, he's got to be the weakest dancer. John is on a level with him, but somehow pulls off the performance. I still don't understand how!

Why ever not EL? You might even like it . Maybe I'm just shallow and impatient, but I know that there are others for whom knowing the result doesn't spoil the Sunday show. I've never liked surprises. Not since I was little (started with a surprise cholera jab before travel, and my tolerance for surprise dwindled with each succeeding year! )

I hope no one (sleb or FM) rains on your parade this week. I can imagine that it's easy to let it slip, with no malice aforethought!

How inconsiderate of him, making the tea......

Hiya everyone, it looks to be a promising night! I'm looking forward to Rachel's jive, Jodie's waltz, Austin's QS and Heather's Chachacha.

Am a bit worried for Andrew as Ola has been mentioning "entertaining" all this week, which is usually code for "this is going to be horrendous, so we hope it makes you smile".....

Just another 20 mins to go!

I am so looking forward to tonight's show...the last couple of weeks have been a bit flat for me - I had such high hopes!

I want to see some drama, great music, fab interpretation of the music and something that will really make me sit up and take notice, or better still, make the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end!

Its happened before in other series, it happened in Week 1 with Ausitn and Erin - I just so want it to happen again tonight

I could be wrong but I suspect that we will have John for a few more weeks.

This year's Strictly has some great dancing but is really short on characters. Austin is one of them but there are quite a few technically good people who don't/won't/can't (dunno which) bring their personality on to the floor. This has created a void that John has, inevitbly, filled.

I could be wrong but, based on how things look at the moment, I would not be surprised if Andrew, Heather, Christine and Jodie all got eliminated before things start looking tricky for John.

Tonight, I'm hoping that Austin's quickstep is as exciting as it looked in training, that Cherie and Tom step out of their comfort zones and surprise the doubters, and that Lisa will continue to evolve as a dancer.

That'll do for starters ...
