Rhydian: Producers told me what to say
On this site there's an article where Rhyd claims he was pretty much fed lines by the producers when he was on XF, that he was made to look like an arrogant penis in order to be more interesting/get further (!) as he didnt have a sob story. As we know, this was then used to paint him in a bad light as if he really WAS that sort of person
![]() http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/xfactor/...at-to-say.html I can't believe he was told what to say and then painted so badly in the auditions stages

"I had to sit in front of a camera for two hours being told what to say. They said: 'You're not going through to the final unless you say this.' Things like, 'Yeah, I want to be knighted', and 'Yeah, I've got the X factor'. I'd say, 'I don't want to say that. It's cringy'.
That's awful.

Has Mr Cowell had anything to do with his album?

This is just a small part of a long and frank interview in today's Daily Mail, which DS has picked out. I believe he has mentioned this before - and Simon Cowell has a lot to do with his album, Rhydian is signed with him.

Thats interesting about his album, I dont know exactly how much involvement Cowell had, maybe he picked some cover versions (like Somewhere) to be on there but it doesnt make him (Simon) look good...
Maybe he thought an arrogant persona would get him further. |

Guys, seriously...while what Rhyd is saying shows the show up for what it is, do you think that Simon is going to be happy with this?
Simon's credibilty and influence is going down the drain at the moment, IMO. This only puts him (as the main figurehead of the programme) into a rather dim light. |

Of course Rhyd is signed with Simon Liz, so Simon has a lot to do with the album but I didnt know how much per se. You're right Zip, Rhyd is signed with Cowell and it doesnt make him look good if Rhyd says his boss was controlling him (though that was what happened). |

His comments tell us nothing we didn`t already know

You're right Zip, Rhyd is signed with Cowell and it doesnt make him look good if Rhyd says his boss was controlling him (though that was what happened). However, surely it's the case that other people who have had careers from the XF don't openly criticise like this? Well, apart from Steve B? I can't help but admire Rhyd for this...but I also think Simon will be unhappy. It's a bit like 'biting the hand'? However, you never know...it could be all sanctioned in order to change opinion of Rhyd for the album release. |

As Liz and Olga said, we've read things like this before - and I havent read the whole interview, maybe he was answering specific questions etc so things may be out of context. It could have been done to get publicity for the album...?
I do admire Rhyd for saying that though, he's told it as he sees it, not said "Everyone was great.." ![]() I think Rhyd will still be on the show, I doubt he'd throw his appearance away

I think it will make no difference, he has said this before on Welsh TV and it is only a small part of the article. I would be very surprised if his appearance on the X factor was pulled, the record company probably read through the article anyway before it went to press and gave it their OK - they provided the photo. The show gave him the arrogant image and this is a way of dispelling the idea that was the true Rhydian for those who still believe it. It deals with other myths too.

The Daily Mail article didn't warm me to him at all. |
