Did the ONN LEDSTBO705 really come with a v3.7 without accurate recording support? The only T816 units that I was aware of that shipped without accurate recording were very early batches, of the Hitachi for example, as creddish says, and that was v3.4. If you are so keen on having a T816 without accurate recording and with padding instead, I might be able to sort you out with v3.4 if you are willing to update via the serial port - this will work on any T816 that you can get your hands on . I think you will have a tough time actually finding a second hand T816 box with v3.4 already on it (most were shipped with v2.4 or v3.7, both of which have accurate recording and no padding).

Hi futaura. Are you saying that because 3.7 has Accurate Recording you can't Edit the Timers? I thought I was able to do this on my Hitachi 3.7 but as I never used padding except out of curiosity I can't be sure. I have never had a pre-3.7 Vestel so if I was able to Edit "Event" timers it must have been on that version.

I have the ONN t816 with version 3.7 software. The reason I am trying to find another one is because I just got the sharp model tu-r252h and it is useless; it is very slow and also freezes up on sky news frequently, plus there is loss of sound for some time if you use the search facility (x16 seems to be the most affected), so I packed it up straight away as I thought those days were over. Also, as you know, there is now way to edit the timer events anymore.

Version 3.7 does have the accurate recording feature, but also has the timer edit feature as well. I found that software versions before this were unreliable so this is why I wanted one like the one I have but have great difficulty finding one with the brand ONN.

As an aside, I do have another t816 (durabrand), but has only got the 80gig in it. Is there any way to clone the drive onto a larger one so I can make it into a 160gig (or bigger).

Yes the Hitachi certainly allows events to be changed to timed with padding. It was the series machines which disallowed it, but I think a manual timer could still be added.

There seems to be some confusion, or maybe it's just me . Certainly all T816 software versions (not including the v6.x FP Group 2 ones) allow event timers to be changed to time based events and then padding can be added manually. If this is what audiofi is referring too, pretty much any T816 with v3.7 will be the same as the ONN.

Whereas T816 software versions that do not support accurate recording (the minority) have a start/end padding option in the config screen that automatically adds padding to all recordings since all timers are time based and never event (sort of like it used to work on the T810).

Ah! I see the subtle difference. You were referring to having an "automatic padding feature" rather than the ability to individually add padding manually.

There is an HITACHI HDR161 which will probably have Version 3.7 software on eBay described as "new" here. There are also several Digihome DTRs on eBay here. You will need to check the details of some of these. There is at least one listed as a DTR but described as "Record one/watch another". If it really is a DTR (as opposed to PVR) it should do "Record two". There are however other 80GB Digihome DTRs described as "record 2" which are likely to be Version 3.7 but I guess could possibly be 3.4.

No it's not automatic on the Hitachi, so really it's just an editable timer.

I realised that . But I did not realise that in an earlier post futaura was making the point that the 3.4 software does have automatic padding as an option.
