Just read this article on Pocket-lint:

" anything that rival's Apple own
products is also being excluded "

http://www.pocket-lint.co.uk/news/ne...pp-store.phtml

When you look at the way Microsoft have been slaughtered by the authorities for using their monopoly to push IE over other browsers with Windows. I know we are not talking about computers here, but physically blocking competing products is surely worse?

Anyone else think this is outrageous? (The grammar is pretty poor too!)

According to another article, Opera haven't submitted any version of Opera Mini to Apple yet.

I doubt Opera would get the OK but the facts are right now it hasn't been submitted. And if its a port, probably is not using Apples APIs or interpreter, which is not permitted as part of the SDK and approval process.

I think its entirely fair for Apple to stipulate that all apps use Cocoa/WebKit. It's their platform after all. But if say, Camino created a browser using the two (that was beyond the WebKit view that is free for them to use in the SDK) and Apple rejected it, that would be blatent anti-competitive behaviour and i'd hope they'd be called out on it.

Until then, this article is incorrect.

I read that Apple recently rejected an app that downloaded Podcasts because it replicated the functionality of iTunes. I'll try and find the link to the story.

they are definitely rejecting apps on the ground of duplication: http://www.macrumors.com/iphone/2008...rom-app-store/
