Not sure Austin deserved a ten but I would really like to know where the 'let's get a ten' stuff came from. Austin is being branded as cocky at the moment but, listening to what he says, I just don't see it. What I do see is the producers editing material together in a certain way to give this impression. Are they worried that the gap between him and the others is too big and so they are trying to knock him down? Surely it was them who raised the question of the ten, wasn't it?”

Austin has winked at the judges in 2 of his dances. I don't find that endearing, and it certainly seems like he's cocky. Craig mentioned the timing issues, and a "10" should mean perfection.

Jodie and Ian were undermarked imo but I bet if I went back and watched it again, there's not much content of waltz in it even though the story was beautiful and Len said she wasn't doing heel leads.”

I agree with you. Rachel and Vincent are amongst my favourites but that jive looked very awkward to me.
The almost universal reaction that Jodie was undermarked illustrates the importance of clever choreography on this show. As Len pointed out her footwork was actually quite poor, she was dodgy out of hold, there was a horrible extension at one point and a lot of gapping in the middle section. But Ian had put together a dance with a good story that people related to and overlooked all the mistakes. Compare with Erin who gave Austin a dance packed with content from start to finish (no posing; all dancing) which he performed with no obvious mistakes and people think he was overmarked - presumably because there was no 'story'!

There is no way that any dance John has done is as bad as Fiona Phillips. He can at least keep time to the music. Technically, Austin was the best tonight but I would have Jodie and Ian in second place (my favourite dance of the night).

Craig mentioned the timing issues regarding Austin's QS and he looked a bit stiff at times IMO. He wasn't perfect, so giving him a 10 was ridiculous.

I liked Lisa and Brendan this week and last (and I don't like Brendan!).

I'm afraid just because Craig says something doesn't make it right. I wondered if anyone actually spotted them. (I do admit, given the camera work we are not in a good position to judge!)

Personally I loved their QS and they thoroughly deserved their position on the board - the reason I've highlighted your remark at the end is that it similarly applies to Lisa and Brendan - no gimmicks, no faffing around, just a great tango from start to finish but because there was no real story telling people believe they were overmarked - weird, I always thought the whole point of the show was to mark on dancing, not the story telling - silly me for getting it wrong!

I agree. It was a fantastic and challenging choreography from Brendan. She did make an obvious footwork mistake near the beginning and also bumped his shoulder at the start but she deserved the high marks.

I don't think he's cocky either, I just think he's got a wicked sense of humour and can't help himself when he's enjoying himself.

I actually find him to be hardworking, humble and funny. He keeps being attributed with all this stuff that he doesn't say or do, he never mentioned a 10, Erin did, he didn't want to get his muscles out, Tess forced him.

Erin said he didn't have any timing issues when Craig said it, so I guess we will only be able to tell when we watch it back.

I doubt we'll be able to see it as the camera work is so bad.

I thought Lisa & Brendan was the best dance tonight by quite some margin - apart from looking near perfect, i enjoyed watching it - like to see it again in fact

I also thought Tom's dance was pedestrian to poor really - looked/danced like a 5 year old would

The fixed camera angle will be up on Monday on the BBC site, you'll be able to watch them all back then.

Lisa and Brendan were great- loved their dance, so precise. Tom's facial contortions were a bit off-putting in his dance, I thought.

Jodie undermarked

Tom overmarked
Austin overmarked
Rachel overmarked
Cherie overmarked

Austin and Lisa (who stumbled a bit again) were both a tad overmarked however Tom was chronically over-marked. His cape work was awful, his "fierce" paso face made him look like he had constipation and he's an actor for god sake he should have been able to do a convincing facial expression and although there were some good bits the whole dance looked horribly camp. No way was he better than Rachel who was distinctively under-marked.

I actually thought Cherie and Heather were slightly under-marked.

Everyone else was fair apart from John who although not great was better than Andrew - he should go this week if there's any justice.

Austin was overmarked (it was good but not worth a 10) and Jodie was undermarked.

That's true - as it's a timing issue you might well be able to see it but it's way too far away to see any footwork mistakes (unless I haven't discovered how to zoom in yet?)

Jodie & Ian - Under
Tom & camilla - Over
Not sure that Austin deserved a 10. Good dance though...

Tom looked like Desparate Dan from the comic strip! I enjoyed it apart from that.

Jodie undermarked and Chrie should have been bottom - she was awful! Austin deserved 4 x 9, but no 10 IMO. Still best of the night though and I would have had Jodie second, Lisa third.

Pretty much in agreement with that. I found Tom's Paso really odd and I didn't like the beginning at all.

Lisa's was overmarked, I wasn't that impressed and, while it was better than some, I don't think it deserved three 9s and an 8. I though Jodie's was really nice and expected the judges to be raving over them, but they were undermarked again. Austin's dance was great, but can't the judges save the 10s for a bit later in the competition? I would have given it a 9 or an 8.

Craig gave Cherie '6' when he had previously given Heather '4' for a much better Salsa. They can't keep making allowances for her.
